British Airways has today launched its Black Friday sale offers which must be booked 3 by December 2019. Overall if you are looking for business class these are quite disappointing except in Club Europe with companion fares. The other sweet spot would be the World Traveller Plus special deals if you can then upgrade with a Gold Upgrade voucher or Avios both on flight only or on the holiday deals. You can find the Black Friday sale page here.

If you book anything make sure you are registered for the double Avios promotion on flights and holidays.

The majority offers only applied to selected routes. Here is the full list of routes:

BA LCY prague route

There is a good deal with two people travelling with a pair of return tickets on selected routes in Club Europe for £100 per person more than the Euro Traveller (short-haul economy) fare. If you are on your own, don’t worry as I was able to find prices pretty close to these with one person. The travel periods vary but from Heathrow travel is mainly until 31 March 2020 and from Gatwick 29 March 2020. You have to stay a Saturday night. If you are looking for a tier point run then I have highlighted routes with 80 tier points each way in bold. If you are after tier points there are some great deals around £200 for 160 tier points.

There are lots of destination but here is a selection of a few favourites

  • Vienna £196
  • Munich £197
  • Barcelona £185

Aerial view of Rio De Janeiro. Corcovado mountain with statue of Christ the Redeemer, urban areas of Botafogo and Centro, Sugarloaf mountain.

British Airways Holidays is offering a range of two-night city breaks to Europe for £99, including destinations such as Prague, Barcelona, Nice, Rome, Venice and Krakow. On top of this, there are deals to be had travelling further afield with offers to Abu Dhabi, Seychelles, Johannesburg, Durban and Las Vegas.

There is also a decent offer for flight and hotel, or flight and car packages. You can save £100 can be saved on holidays with a minimum spend of £2,500 per booking, and £50 for £1,250. Customers staying at selected AMResorts hotels in Cancun and the Dominican Republic can save £100 for a 7-night British Airways Holiday booking, £150 for a 10-night booking and £200 for a 14-night booking.

Booking a holiday with BA has lots of advantages – they are often better value than flight only, you get an extra 1 Avios per £1 and you only have to pay a deposit. The only downside is that you can’t use the normal BA phone lines including the Silver or Gold lines to talk about your booking. I find this incredibly annoying as there is often a long wait, although they are helpful when you do get through. But generally, most people would not need to call them.

Prices are based on two sharing a room:

  • Prague flights + 2 nights hotel from £99 pp
  • Barcelona flights + 2 nights hotel from £99 pp
  • Venice flights + 2 nights hotel from £99 pp
  • Amsterdam flights + 2 nights hotel from £99 pp
  • Budapest flights + 2 nights hotel from £99 pp
  • Rome flights + 2 nights hotel from £99 pp
  • Bilbao flights + 2 nights hotel from £99 pp

For long haul, I can see virtually nothing in Club World but there are some solid deals in World Traveller Plus. If you have an upgrade voucher or Avios to use  to upgrade this could work out a great deal. Just watch the extra taxes on the US ones. Examples prices include:

  • Abu Dhabi flights + 3 nights at Sheraton hotel £689 per person
  • Oman flights + 3 nights at Sheraton hotel £701 per person
  • Dubai + 3 nights at Sheraton Jumeirah £768 per person
  • Las Vegas + 3 nights at Signature MGM £914 per person (read more about that hotel and Vegas here)
  • Rio de Janeiro + 5 nights at  Novotel Rio De Janeiro Barra Da Tijuca £1213

You can find the holiday finder page for the cheapest BA holidays here.
