Singapore Airlines to Bali from £1535

If you have been wanting to try out Singapore airlines and their amazingly wide business class seats, they have been doing some great offers from Stockholm recently including New Zealand for around £2100. You can read my review of the A350 here.

The offers are cheap partly because it is an indirect service to Singapore but I found the stop in Moscow very painless. The latest offer is to Bali from £1535 in business class. There are two options, to get the cheapest price you will need to fly to Copenhagen on SAS and then pick up the Singapore flight on the B777. If you wanted to fly on the A350 (which I recommend) it routes via Moscow instead with Singapore all the way and starts at £1784. The rules of the offer are:

  • Non refundable
  • Cancellable for a fee
  • Minimum stay a Saturday night

You can find the latest prices and availability on the Singapore Airlines site here.

British Airways First class offers

BA First

Yesterday I talked about the BA First offers to the US and Chile. There is also another special companion fare for a couple of destinations in India. The details are:

  • Mumbai £2149 pp with 2 travelling
  • Delhi £2499 pp with 2 travelling

The book by date is the same as the Santiago offer – 6th August, but the travel period is much more generous with travel between 1 August 2018 and 15 July 2019.  (November excluded for travel to Delhi)

As usual, it is always worth having a look at adding a car or hotel to the booking for the extra 1 Avios per £1 spent as well as potentially lowering the price. You can just add a hotel or car for one day and adding any sort of holiday extra normally lowers the price plus you can pay a deposit initially rather than the full balance. To add a hotel or car for a short period of time use this BA complex holiday booking page.

You can find the BA Holiday page here and the BA low flight finder page here.

Qatar Business class from the UK offers

Qatar business class review B787 A350

Qatar B787 seat

If you are still waiting in vain for a Qatar sale you may wish to look at a couple of the UK Gatwick offers if you are considering the Far East. Even if they are not necessarily to your end destination, you could then use some Avios to get an internal flight to your final destination. One World is well serviced in Asia with Cathay, JAL and Malaysian which are all great airlines to travel on. You can find out about spending Avios on other airlines here. Alternatively, you could buy a cheap ticket and get some Avios and Tier points instead. There are quite a few destinations on offer but most are well over the £2000 mark which is my cut off for considering Qatar business class offers unless it is ultra long haul.

The two offers are both from Gatwick and must be booked by 15 August 2018 for travel from 15 September 2018.

  • Penang, Malaysia from £1800
  • Hong Kong from £1499

There are pros and cons to travelling from Gatwick – you don’t get the fantastic Qatar Lounge like at Heathrow but you do get a Qatar B787 which is one of my favourite business class seats and great for the jetlag too with better onboard atmospheric conditions.

You can search for the latest fares on the special Gatwick offer Qatar page here.

Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels of the World – earn Avios

Blanket Bay an SLH hotel

Blanket Bay an SLH hotel

I wrote about the great benefits you can get as an Amex cardholder at SLH in this article. However, SLH are no longer awarding Avios on hotel stays but the recent announcement by Hyatt will change this. Hyatt have just announced a new relationship with Small Luxury Hotels of The World (SLH). This means you will soon be able to earn and redeem World of Hyatt points for eligible stays at participating SLH hotels. Also, qualifying nights at SLH hotels will count toward your World of Hyatt tier status. All you have to do is book through Hyatt.

Although Hyatt are probably not a brand that many UK residents have status in, it could be worth joining if you stay at SLH hotels and want to collect Avios. The full details will be announced nearer to the launch date at the end of the year. It is not clear whether the SLH scheme will remain the same, as it currently has some great benefits for Amex cardholders.
