News & Offers: UK BA Premium Economy to US from £621 , Get a free night with Marriott, Qatar Qsuites routes

Miami

BA/AA Premium economy deals

Even if you want to fly in business class these deals may be worth considering as they are upgradeable with Avios. To upgrade a return flight from London to New York, for example, would cost 40,000 peak or 48,000 off-peak (yes, that’s the right way round with BA’s bizarre pricing).

  • US East Coast off peak 48,000 return
  • US East Coast peak 40,000 return
  • US West Coast & Miami peak 60,000 return
  • US West Coast & Miami off peak 50,000 return

The good news is that you would get the Avios and Tier points from the Premium Economy part so it can be an efficient way to use your miles if you are trying to get status rather than an all-out redemption.

Prices vary by UK airport with Inverness being cheaper due to the lack of APD tax.

  • New York
    • Inverness – £623
    • London – £751
  • Boston £653
    • Inverness – £623
  • Los Angeles
    • Inverness – £623
    • London – £768
  • Miami £626
    • Inverness – £623
    • London – £762
  • San Francisco
    • Inverness – £635
    • London – £799

Rules:

  • Minimum stay a Saturday night
  • Monday to Wednesday departure, Monday to Thursday return
  • Travel periods vary but mainly January onwards with a few this year

The tickets need to be booked through British Airways or Iberia.

Qatar Qsuites new route

Qatar airways business class suite

QSuite

Qatar QSuites has to be the best business class product around in my opinion. I flew it earlier this year and would say it is on par with many first class seats even though the food and drink is not in the same league as first. You can read my QSuite review here

Another handy route has been added to Qatar’s growing list of Qsuites destinations. Amsterdam although not being the best airport to transit through (and having a pretty bad BA lounge) is at least easily accessible. It also has been producing some good value fares recently. Although Qatar is not as good value as BA from Amsterdam they are still offering a decent saving on routes from there such as Bangkok from £1658 versus £2400 from London. Along with this they will also be starting on Sao Paolo and Buenos Aires from 1 December with the B77-200LR. They have committed to fitting all the B777-200LR which should mean that Auckland is also in line to get the QSuites.

The full list of Qsuite routes is now (some are announced but not started):

  • London
  • Amsterdam
  • Tokyo – Haneda and Narita (from 1 January 19 and 28 October respectively)
  • Singapore
  • Seoul
  • Shanghai
  • Paris
  • Frankfurt
  • Washington
  • Houston
  • New York JFK
  • Munich
  • Bombay
  • Bangalore
  • Mumbai
  • Bangkok
  • Hong Kong
  • Sydney
  • Canberra
  • Berlin
  • Colombo
  • Hong Kong
  • Buenos Aires – 1 December
  • Sao Paolo – 1 December

Marriott Rewards – get a free night after just 2 nights stay

If you are not already a member of the Marriott Rewards scheme it could be worth considering joining in order to get a free night (or perhaps your partner could join and book the next couple of stays). Marriott has a good deal currently if you join their loyalty scheme and stay 2 nights before 28 January 2019. You need to make two paid stays in order to get a free reward night of up to 25,000 points. You can’t book two consecutive nights at the same hotel on different booking as these still count as one stay. However, luxury brand Ritz Carlton also counts towards your stays.

Courtyard King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.

Once you have done your two stays you receive a certificate for a free night at a category 1-4 hotel on Marriott Rewards. They may not be the most luxurious hotels in Marriott’s portfolio but it does have plenty of choice including a couple in Hawaii and the Renaissance at Heathrow which I reviewed here.

You can find the relevant page here.

  1. I guess upgrading to Business on Avios will also incur the full ADP from Heathrow.

  2. So, to be clear the tier point awards if upgraded to business class, would be at the business class award? If booking from Inverness can you also upgrade and get the 40 tier points for each of those legs of the journey?

    Thanks.

  3. I’m not seeing the 623 from Inverness price, how can I find it? might it be gone already?

  4. Any rumours as to when Qatar will start their next sale? I’m looking for flights to BKK in feb, ideally racking up as many tier points as possible!

    • Hi AJ. If I had a £1 for the amount of times I have been asked that in the last 6 months….their last decent sale was around February so it has been a long time. I heard a rumour it would be September so that was wrong. I think the only certainty is that they will do something for Black Friday in November.

      • Thanks for the quick reply, I did fear you would have been asked many times already, I just couldn’t seem to find an answer.
One last question if thats okay? I’m pretty new to all this luxury travel (being a student doesn’t help!) and I’ve seen you talk a lot of tier runs to the US earning obscene tier points and miles, are there any recommended tier run routes towards Asia?

Have your say
