BA 50% off redemptions gets even better
Last week reported on BA’s latest Avios offer for redemptions which this time included business and first class. For those that did not see it here is a recap:
The discounts available are:
●50% fewer Avios in World Traveller & World Traveller Plus
●10% fewer Avios in Club World & First
I would still advise against redeeming for economy unless you need a flexible ticket. The taxes and charges on economy tickets are pretty much the same as actually buying a cheap ticket so it is rarely worth it. The best way to find dates initially is usually on rewardflightfinder which shows you an entire year at a time.
You can use the discount on both one way and return bookings plus you can use it with Avios and money bookings but only the Avios will be discounted, not the cash part. Reward flights are subject to availability which may be very limited or not available at all on some routes including Sydney, Miami, Sao Paulo, Calgary, Cape Town, Male, Mauritius and Punta Cana.
The crucial dates for the offer are:
●Book period: 7 Nov – 21 Nov 2019
●Travel Period: 7 Nov – 30 April
Now comes the interesting part…. although it clearly says in the T&C that you can’t use it with 2-4-1 vouchers it would appear that you can. Whether it works with other vouchers such as a Gold Upgrade voucher or Lloyds voucher we don’t know. Other readers have also reported that they have had the discount when using Avios to upgrade as well.
So the moral of the story is to just give it a go and see whether it works with voucher/plans rather than assuming it won’t. I think in future BA need to be a lot clearer on exactly what you can and can’t do.
You can find the special British Airways offer page here.
Let us know how you have got on with the offer in the comments below or on social media.
Qatar Airways to Australia from £1900, Langkawi £1462
Qatar have a few more good offers from Scabdibavia including Perth from £1900. If you have never thought about Western Australia I can definitely recommend it. Within easy reach is the beautiful Margaret River area famous for its wine, beaches and seafood. Perth is also a great place to then carry on further up the coast towards Ningaloo Reef near Exmouth. Along the coast is some amazing marine life like whale sharks and some very quiet and beautiful places.
Also in the sale is finally a decent price to Langkawi, home of one of our favourite hotels the Datai.
The flights are via Penang but its the same aircraft that does a quick stop. It’s certainly easier than flying via Kuala Lumpur although if Claudio’s review yesterday made you feel like visiting KL, you could do an open jaw to come back from KL instead.
There are a few other decent fares in the offer too. The fares all start from Scandivania and the best prices are:
- Gothenburg to Perth £1900
- Oslo to Bangkok £1219
- Copenhagen to Hong Kong £1299
- Stockholm to New Delhi £1199
- Oslo to Singapore £1234
- Stockholm to Manila £1251
- Stockholm to Da Nang £1543
- Oslo to Cape Town £1353
- Stockholm to Langkawi £1462
The rules are:
