Offer: UK to Dubai, Seoul & New Zealand business class return from £1221

DUBAI, UAE - JANUARY 20: Burj Al Arab hotel on January 20, 2011 in Dubai, UAE. Burj Al Arab is a luxury 5 star hotel built on an artificial island in front of Jumeirah beach

Hilton APAC

Today’s article is a complete mish-mash of fares, so hopefully, there is something for everyone!

UK to Seoul from £1492

Although you may not have Korea on your list of top destinations, (although it is on mine!) you could also use this fare to do a twin-centre holiday to somewhere like Japan that is only a short flight away. The advantage with KLM and Air France is that they fly from multiple departure points in the UK, so they are ideal if you want to use a regional airport.

Bukchon Hanok Village, old traditional Korean house architecture called – Hanok – with tile roof. Famous tourist area near Gyeongbok Palace

Here are the rules:

  • Minimum stay: 6 nights or a Saturday night
  • Maximum stay: 1 month
  • Transfers: Unlimited
  • Stopovers: One in Amsterdam or Paris for £75
  • Refundable: No
  • Changeable: Yes for a fee

You can book direct with KLM or Air France here or find the cheapest online travel agent price with Skyscanner.

New Zealand’s South Island from £1832

I previously wrote about a great deal to Auckland with China Southern. If you would rather travel to the South Island then flights are also available for slightly more from £1832 return. This is still an amazing price for a decent airline from the UK!

A reminder of the details:

The airline

The fare is on China Southern, which for many people means they will dismiss it instantly. But, you may want to read on before you do….

China Southern are part of Sky Team (until the end of this year). This means you could credit to Delta for example, and be able to use the miles on Virgin as well as all of Skyteam. Most importantly, our reviewer was very impressed with them, especially the onboard service. You can read her review here.

They are rated as a four-star airline with Skytrax which is the same as BA. China Southern operates a very modern fleet with B787 Dreamliners for both flights to New Zealand. It’s a fully-flat seat extending to 74 inches (188 cm), with 20 inch (51 cm) seat width and an 84 inch (213 cm) pitch. The only drawback is the 2-2-2 layout of the seats, which is not ideal for solo travellers.

The fare rules

  • Book by: 16 August and at least 14 days before flight
  • Travel:
    • by 19 March 2020
    • Outbound – travel is not permitted 10 Dec 19 through 31 Dec 19 or 18 Jan 20 through 15 Feb 20.
    • inbound – travel is not permitted 10 Dec 19 through 12 Jan 20 or 28 Jan 20 through 9 Feb 20.
  • Minimum stay: 6 nights or a Saturday night
  • Maximum stay: 6 months
  • Stopovers: Unlimited free stopovers
  • Refundable: No
  • Changeable: Yes for a fee

Booking the fare

There is limited availability most months apart from November and March which are wide open. Both are good months to visit New Zealand whilst the weather is still relatively warm. The headline price I quoted is available through Skyscanner with a travel agent called Budgetair, who I have no personal experience of. If you don’t mind paying a bit more, there are other online travel agents that I or one of the team have personally used such as Travelup, Opodo or Expedia.

UK to Dubai from £1378

Swiss business class sale

A330 business class in bed mode

If you fancy some winter sun then this next deal could be for you… There is a good value fare from the UK with a choice of either Lufthansa or Swiss. Whilst neither would be in my top airlines business class list, on a short flight like this, it would be perfectly OK. Out of the two, I would opt for Swiss due to the better seat layout. From Zurich, Swiss use their A330 aircraft.

You can credit to any of the Star Alliance mileage schemes which leaves plenty of options for redemptions on airlines such as Singapore Airlines or Air New Zealand.

Here are the fare rules

  • Minimum stay: 6 nights or a Saturday night
  • Maximum stay: 12 months
  • Transfers: Unlimited
  • Stopovers: 1 at £75
  • Refundable: No
  • Changeable: Yes for a fee

You can book direct with Lufthansa or Swiss here or find the cheapest online travel agent price with Skyscanner.
