British Airways flights from £40 one way or £47 return!!
If you are looking for some cheap positioning flights, a bargain break or perhaps some tier points then this offer may help. British Airways has today made thousands of hand-baggage-only flights to Europe available for £40 or less each way. You can choose from a wide selection of over 70 routes across the airline’s European network including Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Kefalonia, Faro and Verona.
Even though BA are advertising the fares from £40 one way, I can see some even cheaper fares.
These include the following RETURN fares:
- Malaga £57
- Alicante £57
- Palma £57
- Bordeaux £47
- Nice £54
- Milan £48
- Faro £70
- Naples £48
- Verona £56
- Venice £58
- Tirana £79
- Sofia £74
- Bucharest £85
- Catania £99
- Malta £100
The routes in bold get 20 Tier points return instead of 10.
The airline is also including domestic flights between London and UK cities in its offer, such as Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness, Belfast City and Jersey. British Airways is now offsetting carbon emissions on all its flights within the UK, as part of the airline’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Andrew Brem, British Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “It’s time to shrug off the cold and the rain. With flights for £40 or less each way, there’s something for everyone to look forward to, with fantastic value for those wishing to soak in the culture and charm of a city break or the summer sun on a beach in the Mediterranean. Take advantage of our hand-baggage only fares or enjoy guaranteed savings with a flight and hotel package together.”
The seats, based on return fares, are available for travel on select dates until 31 December 2020. The fares are on offer from London Heathrow and London Gatwick, while availability lasts.

Qatar Airways bargains continue with new fares
As I have mentioned a few times, this week is normally when we would expect to see Qatar’s annual travel festival. It now looks like that may not happen as this morning new offers appeared for the UK and elsewhere. Which was just as well as the Langkawi fare I was booking last night disappeared well before the finish time for the sale. Fortunately, I managed to get Singapore for £1200 so I was happy with that since it’s a short flight from there.
The best flights I have found are naturally all ex EU. Although I still think the London-Melbourne price at £2647 is a great fare – you can read about it here.
The stand out fare for me is Tokyo for £1336. It is rare to see prices there at less than £1500, even on an ex EU. Another destination of interest is Zanzibar which looks stunning (see the lead photo in article).
|From||Destination||Price (estimate on today’s exchange rate)|
|Hong Kong||£ 1,296.00|
|Ho Chi Minh City||£ 1,261.00|
|Ho Chi Minh City||£ 1,367.00|
|Kuala Lumpur||£ 1,466.00|
The ex EU fares are mainly changeable or refundable, but for a very hefty fee. Most require Sunday to Thursday departure and Monday to Friday return with a minimum stay of 5 days and 90 days in advance for booking.
New York from £1021
If you are a regular reader you may recall my review of La Compagnie, the all-business class airline from Paris and Nice. I was very impressed with their new business class product onboard their spanking brand new A321LR aircraft. I got my flight for under £900, but that price is not seen very often. They do however have a still great offer that is on until 20 January 2020. The offer is for £1021 or $1200 return. Obviously you have to get to Orly but if you fancy an all-business class experience, this is a good one to try.
