American Express has launched an offer for new and existing British Airways American Express Premium Plus Cardmembers with a new bonus and an improved referral bonus for existing cardholders.
Running from 11 January to 21 February, new Cardmembers can now collect up to 35,000 bonus Avios when they spend £3,000 in the first three months of Cardmembership, up from 25,000 Avios. Or if a friend refers you, that increases to 36,000 Avios.
Existing Cardmembers can also collect extra Avios with this limited time offer. Cardmembers will be able to collect 12,000 bonus Avios when a referred friend is approved as a new Cardmember, increased from 9,000 Avios.
British Airways American Express Premium Plus Cardmembers earn 1.5 Avios on every £1 they spend. Purchases made with British Airways or British Airways Holidays can earn Cardmembers three Avios for every £1 spent. If you get a supplementary card holder and funnel all your spending through it, it’s amazing how it mounts up. They also do regular money-off vouchers, which you add to the card that can give substantial savings.
Cardmembers get a Companion Voucher if they spend £10,000 within their Cardmembership year. Companion Vouchers allow Cardmembers to bring a second traveller on the same flight and any cabin (including business and first class) for no additional Avios, plus paying taxes, fees, and charges per person.
British Airways American Express Premium Plus has become more useful recently thanks to the changes with the new style vouchers. As well as more availability on the new style vouchers that launched in September 2021, they are also useful to solo travellers. If you don’t want to use your companion voucher to take someone with you, you can use it for a 50% reduction in Avios. Pair this with the new RFS long haul cash amounts, and it could mean a great deal for cash and Avios for the solo traveller.
You can also now use the companion vouchers on Iberia and Aer Lingus which offer great value redemptions on many routes both in terms of the Avios and cash elements needed. You book them online in exactly the same way as booking a BA flight – ba.com should display any available Iberia or Aer Lingus Avios seats available.
Maggie Boyle, Vice President, American Express, commented: “This limited time offer provides new and existing British Airways American Express Premium Plus Cardmembers with an opportunity to kick start the New Year with increased Avios as they plan their 2023 travels. This is particularly timely, as research from Amex shows that more than two fifths (41%) of Brits say they will collect points or cashback when they book their 2023 travels by spending on a Card that earns them rewards, and a further three in ten (30%) say they will use points or vouchers to save money on their holidays*.”

Ah excellent stuff, for some reason that article appears smaller than this one.
Just finished building the ultimate Avios honeymoon
DUB-LHR-HKG-SIN-PER-DPS-HKG-LHR. Mix of BA, Cathay and Qantas J. Can’t wait! Mainly excited about Singapore airport and the lounges in HKG. Last use of my Ba Gold. I’m gonna get so fat haha
That trips sounds really amazing. If you have time I recommend a swim in the outdoor pool at SIN. Very refreshing! Plus of course the waterfall.
