British Airways up to triple Avios
With people staying at home and heading online, shoppers can collect even more Avios when they spend through the British Airways Avios eStore with double and even triple Avios awarded by purchasing through selected retailers.
Running on purchases made until 23 December, 2020, the promotion means that customers looking for some online retail therapy or those who are planning their Christmas shopping can earn even more Avios than usual, which they can spend towards hotels, flights, upgrades, car hire and other experiences.
Retailers offering triple Avios per £1 pound spent include:
- NET-A-PORTER – up to 18 Avios (up from 6)
- LEGO – up to 15 Avios (up from 5)
- Fortnum and Mason – 15 Avios (up from 5)
- LOOKFANTASTIC – up to 15 Avios (up from 5)
- notonthehighstreet – 12 Avios (up from 4)
- Selfridges – up to 12 Avios (up from 4)

- Apple – 9 Avios (up from 3)
- Argos – 3 Avios (up from 1)
- Currys PC World – 3 Avios (up from 1)
- Marks and Spencer – 3 Avios (up from 1)
There is also the opportunity to collect double Avios on other retailers across sectors including children & family, food & drink, gifts, health & beauty, toys & games, clothes & fashion, electricals, entertainment, home & garden and sport & fitness.*
The airline’s Avios eStore features over 1,200 retailers in the UK and over 600 in the US. British Airways Executive Club members are credited with Avios for every £1 spent through the online store, with the amount of Avios varying by retailer. There is currently a 30% Avios bonus for the first ever transaction a customer makes on the eStore, available until 31 December, 2020.
Carolina Martinoli, British Airways’ Director of Brand and Customer Experience, said: “We’re all having to stay at home more, and many people will be looking online for their next purchase. Our latest promotion gives shoppers the chance to boost their Avios balances even further while they do this, which they can put towards a flight, hotel or an experience in the future.”
Avios don’t expire unless there is no activity on the British Airways Executive Club Member’s account for 36 months. If you don’t have an Avios earning credit card, online shopping is a good way to keep your Avios from expiring.
To collect Avios while shopping, customers need to visit the British Airways Avios eStore and enter their British Airways Executive Club log in details. They can then click through to retailers’ websites to access the great offers. The Executive Club is free to join and can be done so here.
BA launch new “hot” holiday deals for 2021
To offer some much-needed sunshine as temperatures drop and Brits are asked to stay at home, British Airways is launching its latest sunshine campaign.
The sale has offers on flights and holiday packages for travel throughout 2021 to hot destinations across BA’s network, including the Canary Islands, the Caribbean, the Seychelles, Florida and Dubai.
The airline’s flexible booking policy offers no change fees, or a voucher exchange, for bookings made during the sunshine campaign, as long as their initial travel dates are before the end of August 2021. You can find the latest book with confidence here.
Prices start from a seven-night beach break with flights and hotel from just £219 per person (pp) to Lanzarote or Tenerife in the Canary Islands in March 2021. Meanwhile, if you missed out on the Portuguese sun this year when they withdrew the travel corridor, you can jet off to the Algarve for a seven-night stay including flights from £199pp, also for travel in March next year. These are all in economy.
Personally with Black Friday around the corner I would not rush to book unless you are sure it is a really good deal. The good news though is that you can at least cancel and get a voucher to rebook, if there was then a lower price in the next sale. The only issue might be how long the voucher takes to arrive since it can arrive almost instantly or take the full 7 days. Simple flight only bookings normally come back quickest.
Andrew Brem, British Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “As we edge into the winter months and Brits are asked to stay at home, we know our customers are looking forward to booking warm holidays to get away and soak up some sun. It’s been quite a year, and our very special prices reflect that. With travel dates available in 2021 we’d encourage people to make the most of these special prices and jet off on a well-deserved break.”
The best offers seem to be on economy bookings. For Club prices for a European break for 3 nights start at around £270pp or £370 for 7 nights. Long haul the UAE starts from £1630 for 3 nights plus Club World flights. The price for the US is also similar.
The best way to search for holidays is BA’s Holiday finder page.
British Airways Holidays Customer Promise
On top of the airline’s flexibility, British Airways Holidays customers also have access to a range of additional flexible booking options, all outlined in the company’s ‘Customer Promise’. These include opting to secure a holiday with a low deposit (from just £75 per person), choosing flexible payments, the choice to delay paying the final balance until three weeks before travel, the cover of ATOL protection and a 24-hour holiday helpline. Full details can be found in the British Airways Holidays Customer Promise at ba.com/customer-promise.
