Emirates First class from £2373

Emirates First class is quite an experience and probably my best First class overall (particularly in the new suites). You can read my reviews of Emirates First class on all their aircraft types here.

If you fancy experiencing it for a more reasonable price, there is a good offer from Warsaw. Although the airport itself is not fantastic, it is a handy place to stay when positioning as there are two on-site hotels just across the road. I stayed at the Renaissance which I recommend.

The prices start from (return per person)

  • Bangkok £2849
  • Beijing £2411
  • Bombay £2373
  • Hong Kong £2516
  • New Delhi £2478
  • Osaka £2960
  • Seoul £2719
  • Singapore £2887

The rules:

  • Book: 14 days in advance
  • Travel: Limited availability in March/April 2020
  • Minimum stay:  3 days
  • Maximum stay: 4 months
  • Transfers: Unlimited
  • Stopovers: 3 stopovers permitted on the pricing unit – 2 free in Dubai, one paid
  • Refundable: Yes for a fee

South Africa on British Airways from £1377

Cape Town - penguins at Boulders Beach

Cape Town – penguins at Boulders Beach

This offer is from most major airports in Italy including some great ones for a two-centre break such as Naples, Rome and Venice.

Trying to get to South Africa on Avios can be pretty challenging as there is high demand for tickets on this route. When deals like this come up, it is often worth considering if it is better to spend your Avios on the positioning flights. Then pay cash for the actual tickets since they will give you Avios and Tier points too.

If you are aiming to go to Cape Town you could choose to go to Johannesburg and use miles to fly on BA to Cape Town from there on their Comair franchise. I have done this flight several times and the Slow Lounges either end are pretty good!

The prices are business class return from

  • Durban £1392
  • Johannesburg £1377
  • Cape Town £1570

The rules are:

  • Travel: By 11 December 2020
  • Minimum stay:  a Saturday night
  • Maximum stay: 12 months
  • Transfers: Unlimited
  • Stopovers: No
  • Refundable: No
  • Changeable: Yes for a fee

UK – Australia £2199 5* airline

Asiana A350 business class

Trailfinders regularly offer Sydney on Asiana at around the £2300 mark. The latest offer has just started at £2199 in business class return and is available for travel 25 March to 31 May 2020 and must be booked by 31 March 2020. In this article, I talk about what prices you should be expecting to buy business class flights for. As you will see from that article, this is a great price from the UK on a 5* airline.

If you are not familiar with Asiana, they are rated 5* by Skytrax and have their A350 on the London route with seats in a 1-2-1 configuration. The flights route via Seoul in Korea. Asiana are part of Star Alliance. You can read our article on which airline it is best to credit Star Alliance miles to here.

I have used Trailfinders on a number of occasions and find them very professional. There is a dedicated number for business and first and they always remember who you are and whether you have booked before!

You can’t book online with Trailfinders, but you can find the relevant phone numbers on this page.

  1. I recommend Warsaw for stopover and overnight stay – if needed – airport is just 20 min away from the center, hotels are relatively cheap and good, great food. Airport itself is small with small lounges as well – but very easy/friendly for connecting flights. Above rates for First Emirates seem to be unbeatable.

    • Yes I enjoyed my stay in Warsaw. The old town is beautiful. On the way back though I just about made it to the airport hotel! 😴
