Malaysia Airlines Companion fares

Malaysia airlines A350 business class seat

Malaysia Airlines A350 business class seat available from London

Malaysian Airlines mistakenly launched a page on their website advertising companion fares which were good value only to withdraw it a few hours later as reader S found when he tried to book them. Malaysian have now sent out an email with the deal so hopefully this time it is here to stay. Here are the details again:

The latest business class companion offer has some good prices from the UK and you can earn Avios and Tier points on Malaysia too. Malaysia mainly use their new A350 from London which I would strongly advise that you check you are getting before you purchase. Their A380 seats are very dated.

To get the fares you must use the code:  FORTWO (case sensitive) and book by 2 Sep 2018. You can travel 1 January – 31 Mar 2019. Booking can be made for 2, 4, 6 or 8 passengers travelling together.

Fly from London to Business Class
Special return fares per person when 2 travel from
Langkawi £1744
Penang £1744
Manila £1657
Bali £1864
Phuket £1679
Singapore £1734
Bangkok £1752
Sydney £2332
Auckland £2525

The new A350 features an almost identical business class to that of their A330. The seats are arranged in an alternating 1-2-1 or 2-2-1 pattern. This means that all of the seats in business class bar three will have direct aisle access, so avoid rows 3,6 and 10K if you want aisle access. This configuration results in 4 of the so-called throne seats which have a large amount of personal space with the additional shelf space on both sides.  These are all K seats in rows 1,5, 9 and 11.

One thing to note is that although Malaysia are due to be operating their 2 A350s from Heathrow from now onwards they have been swapping some flights onto the older A380 which does not have a particularly great business class. Currently, the A380 flights are due to operate 20 July 18 to 5 August and from 15 to 28 August.

There are also some single business class fares in the sale though these aren’t as good value:

  • Bangkok: £1899
  • Kuala Lumpur £1789

You can find the offer page on Malaysia Airlines website.

  1. Hope you are recovering well after your lap chole Michele? If they cancelled you again, come and see us at QEHB!!
The BA luxury holiday sale is always a much ado about nothing unless you are the individual who wants the one date they offer at headline prices! Rather like black Friday.
We need another proper BA seat sale. Meanwhile i will continue to ex AMS and get amazing fares and more avios and more tier points to retain gold without doing tier point runs.
Whilst on the subject of tier point runs, i dont understand why people do this. If they travel so little, then surely the club terraces lounge is thrilling enough? I also cant see why you would chase silver or gold if you are not going to regularly use an airline and its lounge and other “benefits”. There are perfectly adequate lounges at all long haul destination airports and flying round the world to be able to use club class check in is ridiculous. For the occasional BA flyer, it is also cheaper to pay to reserve your club seat than to fly unnecessarily to achieve status to avoid the seat booking fee!!
    Am I missing something??

    • Most people that I know that do tier Point runs do it as part of a holiday they would have taken anyway or somewhere they want to visit. This is something I do to make sure I maintain status. Things such as free seat are worth a lot in monetary terms.

  2. Wow, that Malta deal is great in CE + 3 x Nights for that price, I would imagine not much difference in cash from those flights on its own and 160 TP’s, win, win!

  3. Are any of these package sale deals available to a single traveller? I couldn’t see a way to book or price one for one person. Same for a one-night stay (seemed to be a two night minimum).
