Fairmont Windsor Park
Eugene and I were looking for a quick spa break and overnight escape. After exploring several options, we were particularly keen to try the newly opened Fairmont Windsor ParkFairmont Windsor Park, which had been on our radar for a little while. Although the spa package was on the pricier side, it offered surprisingly good value compared to other luxury stays in Surrey.
We booked the Fairmont King Room with the Spa Escape package for the Member Rate of ยฃ875. While that might initially seem steep, it includes breakfast, a fine dining three-course dinner, a 55-minute spa treatment per person, and unlimited access to the spa facilities throughout the stay for two people.
A little about the hotel: Fairmont Windsor ParkFairmont Windsor Park is a luxurious countryside retreat nestled on the edge of Windsor Great Park. Opened in January 2022, the hotel features 251 thoughtfully designed rooms and suites, blending natural stone finishes and soft textures to create a calming, elegant environment. Genuinely, the interior is one of the most beautifully designed hotels Iโve ever visited, hopefully, our photos do it justice.
I’m just not sure on the external main building look. Something isn’t quite doing it for me.
The day before our stay, the hotel called to ask if we had any special requests or needed any assistance ahead of arrival. We had already pre-booked our spa treatments, but it was a lovely and personal touch that made us feel genuinely welcome and excited about our upcoming stay.
Check-In
From the moment you arrive at Fairmont Windsor Park, the property oozes style, calm and understated luxury. We were warmly greeted by the concierge and guided through a very busy lobby to the check-in desk.
To our delight, we were upgraded to a Fairmont One Bedroom King Suite, a lovely surprise, even for just one night. We had looked at this room when booking but for the same package it was over ยฃ1500.
Check-in was smooth, and a friendly team member escorted us to our suite via their famous, never-ending hallway. She took the time to share helpful details about the hotel and the various events on during our stay, which is when we first realised that weโd accidentally booked during school half term… more on that shortly.
The Room
We were given a fairly comprehensive tour of our suite and then left to settle in. The Fairmont One Bedroom King Suite is genuinely gorgeous and easily one of the most stylish rooms Iโve stayed in.
On entering, thereโs an additional WC to the left and coat storage to the right. You then move into a spacious living area with a dining table, well-stocked mini-bar, coffee-making facilities, and plush sofa seating with large windows overlooking the front of the property. A very sought after room apparently.
The view out the front really is special, with beautifully manicured grounds. There is a large pond with a fountain and you can see part of the nature trail that runs through the hotel grounds.
Through double pocket doors, you find the bedroom, which wasn’t cluttered with lots of unnecessary furniture, probably because it is a suite and they can fit the ‘necessities’ into the other part of the room.
The space feels really calm and inviting and the four-poster bed was incredibly comfortable. Leading from the bedrooms is a generous dressing area that you walk through to get to a truly opulent bathroom with a double vanity, walk-in shower, freestanding bathtub, and separate toilet.
It was let down, unfortunately, by a very weak shower, which is surprising for a building only 3 years old but we’ll forgive them.
The toiletries were Le Labo, not one I have come across before, and not my favourite, but they do look the part.
It was great to see so much storage in the dressing area, with drawers, shelves and hanging space.
Of course, for a one night stay, we barely even emptied our bags, but for a long stay this would be more than enough which makes a nice change.
Another bonus with the room was the lighting, it felt light and spacious, probably because of the big windows, but even when the sun went down it wasn’t dark and gloomy like many hotel rooms can be.
Lunch
Once checked in, we made our way to Moreish, the hotelโs more relaxed dining option. However, we were told itโs only open for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays, something we later found online, but not something thatโs made particularly clear when booking. It left us a bit uncertain about what to do next, especially as the only other restaurant, 1215, is a formal fine dining experience.
Thankfully, we discovered that the 1215 Bar offers an informal lunch service with limited bar-style seating. We were lucky to grab the last table, had we arrived even 10 minutes later, we may have struggled to find anywhere to eat, as there are no other options within walking distance.
Lunch turned out to be great. I had the cod bites and chips with the most delicious tartare sauce, and Eugene went for the burger. It wasnโt a huge menu, but it hit the spot. I have to say though, it did seem very expensive, with a side of fries being ยฃ8 and a diet coke was ยฃ6.
Itโs worth noting that The Terrace is another casual option in good weather, but thereโs not much information available and it doesnโt appear to run year-round.
The Spa
After lunch, it was time for us to hit the spa. With our treatments booked for later in the afternoon, we wanted time to make the most of the facilities.
We were warmly welcomed by Priscilla, who was bubbly and helpful, checking us in and giving us a tour. The spa includes a 20m indoor pool with a relaxation area, a โheatedโ outdoor hydrotherapy pool, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, traditional Hammam and more.
We found a couple of daybeds and settled in for the afternoon. At first, we assumed the spa area was adults-only, but a family with three children soon arrived at the pool. To be fair, they were quiet and well-behaved, and a quick check on the website showed that children are allowed during set times, with a cap of 10 per session. That seemed reasonable, and we didnโt expect it to impact our time.
However, we later learned that during half term, the usual restrictions are relaxed without warning, which nobody had mentioned at any point. After our treatments, we returned to at least 20 children in the pool, and the noise level was far from relaxing.
While we completely understand the importance of making places family-friendly (we have a toddler ourselves!), we had booked this stay specifically for some quiet time, and itโs something that really should be communicated upfront. To make it worse, the kids’ session overran by more than an hour, and the morning session was also extended without notice so with just a one night stay, it left very little time to actually relax.
We tried to escape to the outdoor vitality pool, which is supposed to be heated, but on a grey, drizzly February afternoon, it was far from comfortable, so we abandoned that idea and went back to the indoor pool with headphones in.
Our treatments themselves were lovely. Eugene had a classic full body massage, and I had a Mother-To-Be treatment which was done really thoughtfully. I was made to feel very comfortable, with proper support and a gentle but effective massage and facial. Iโve had pregnancy treatments in the past where Iโve been so uncomfortable it didnโt feel worth it, but this one absolutely was.
We didn’t use the gym while we were there, as we were very much there to maximise our relaxation time, but we popped our heads in to take a look and it seemed like one of the better hotel gyms. I know that they have external memberships for the spa and gym, so in those cases, they need to make sure it is pretty well equipped.
Whilst we were there the gym was busy with personal training sessions in both one on one and small group sessions but even then it didn’t feel too busy.
Dinner
Our package originally included dinner at Moreish, but we were really keen to try the hotelโs 3 AA Rosette restaurant, 1215, so we upgraded for a reasonable ยฃ30 per person.
Before dinner, we had a drink at the 1215 Bar, which had transformed into a calm, candlelit space in the evening.
We were seated on time and introduced to our waiter, Piotr, who was absolutely brilliant. Engaging, knowledgeable and full of personality, he gave spot-on recommendations and made the whole evening feel special, one of the best service experiences weโve had in a long time.
To start we were brought a selection of canapรฉs, we forgot to take a note of what they were, but they were packed full of flavour. For mains Eugene went for the beef, which he found delicious but filling, probably because we over ordered on the sides and I had the sea bass, which was light, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented.
We couldnโt leave without dessert, so shared the chocolate fondant, which was very indulgent, possibly a bit too heavy after a big meal, but we didnโt regret it.
Breakfast
After a very comfortable nightโs sleep in a huge bed, we spoke to reception about arranging a late check out as we really wanted to use the spa facilities before heading home. We explained that we had not been able to use the facilities to much of its potential the day before because of the extended kids hours and they were very kind to offer us a later check out of 1pm. So to use the time as best as we could we decided to not get ready and go down to the restaurant for breakfast, we ordered room service instead which felt like a lovely treat.
We were really impressed by how quickly it arrived, under 20 minutes, and it was beautifully set up in our room. We ordered eggs benedict, avocado toast and far too many pastries, all of which were excellent.
We then spent a much more relaxing morning by a still full, but slightly quieter pool before heading home. They also didn’t charge us for room service breakfast as apparently that was included in our package. We were fully expecting to pay so that was a nice surprise.
Conclusion
Fairmont Windsor Park is a stunning hotel that really delivers on comfort, design and service. From the spacious, beautifully styled rooms to the top-tier spa and impressive dining, it felt like a proper treat from start to finish.
We didnโt quite realise just how family-friendly it is, which is brilliant for when we return with our little one. But if weโre planning another couplesโ break, weโll definitely be checking the school holiday calendar first.
Despite a few hiccups, there were so many highlights: the thoughtful pre-arrival call, the unexpected upgrade, the gorgeous room service breakfast, and that brilliant dinner at 1215. Itโs the kind of place that knows how to do luxury, but in a warm, personal way.
