Finnair Launches Avios Subscription
Finnair has introduced its own Avios Subscription service, following in the footsteps of British Airways. The offering is aimed at travellers who want a predictable, regular influx of Avios without relying solely on flying or credit card spend.
How does it work?
The Avios Subscription allows members to receive a fixed number of Avios monthly, credited directly to their Finnair Plus account. Subscriptions are available in four tiers:
-
2,000 Avios per month
-
4,000 Avios per month
-
10,000 Avios per month
-
20,000 Avios per month
You can choose to pay monthly or annually, with the latter offering a small saving, you’ll get 12 months for the price of 10 if you pay upfront.
It’s billed as the most affordable way to purchase Avios, although that depends on your usage and whether you’re already taking advantage of other promotions or UK-based subscriptions.
Is it good value?
The headline pricing isn’t visible unless you’re logged in to the Finnair website, but we know the top-tier option, 240,000 Avios per year, costs €2,808 if paid annually. That works out at 1.17 euro cents per Avios or approximately 0.99p per point in sterling, matching the best UK pricing.
Unlike British Airways, which caps annual purchases at 200,000 Avios, Finnair allows you to go up to 240,000 Avios, giving you a potential top-up if you’ve maxed out your UK options.
However, there is no price advantage here, meaning you won’t get a better deal than through the BA version. If you’re already subscribed via British Airways and haven’t hit your cap, there’s no compelling reason to switch to Finnair. But if you need more Avios and have exhausted the UK channel, this is a welcome second option.
You can sign up via the Finnair Shop, though you’ll need to log in to see your personal pricing.

You’ll need to book by 21st June 2025 for travel between 1st September and 7th December 2025, and travel with at least one other person to qualify for the discount.
Discount codes available:
-
£300 off Business Class bookings with code SETJET300

£200 off Premium Economy or Economy with code SETJET200
The offer is valid on flights from Heathrow or Manchester, but excludes journeys where Hong Kong is your final destination, you must be connecting onwards to destinations like Singapore, Bali, Tokyo, Bangkok, Auckland, and others. The promo codes must be used on the Cathay Pacific website, they won’t work via the mobile app.
As a oneworld partner airline, Cathay Pacific flights earn Avios and British Airways Tier Points if you credit your flights to your Executive Club account. BA Silver and Gold members will also enjoy reciprocal benefits, such as lounge access and priority boarding.
The sale is being promoted under the “Set Jetting” theme, highlighting destinations seen in film and TV, but for most of us, it’s the savings that matter, not the storyline.
Full terms and booking details are available on the Cathay Pacific Set Jetting offer page.
Transfer Emirates Skywards Miles to Marriott Bonvoy
Emirates and Marriott Bonvoy have expanded their Your World Rewards partnership to allow Skywards miles to be converted into Marriott Bonvoy points, a useful new option, particularly for those with miles close to expiry.
Until now, the partnership focused on reciprocal earning benefits:
-
Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold and Platinum members earn 1 Skywards mile per $1 spent at Marriott hotels
-
Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite and above earn 3 Bonvoy points per $1 spent on Emirates flights (base fare only)
The new transfer option works as follows:
-
3 Skywards miles = 2 Bonvoy points
-
Minimum transfer: 3,000 Skywards miles
It’s not great value, you’re sacrificing roughly two-thirds of the value based on typical valuations (1p per Skywards mile vs 0.5p per Bonvoy point). But for many, that’s not the point as Skywards miles come with a strict three-year expiry, regardless of activity, unless you hold Platinum status. With Emirates recently removing the option to convert miles to Heathrow Rewards credit, this Bonvoy transfer is now the best way to rescue expiring miles.
This isn’t a good deal if your Skywards balance is healthy, but if you’ve got a few thousand ageing miles you can’t use, transferring them into Bonvoy points is a smart exit strategy.
You can link your accounts and make the transfer via the Marriott Bonvoy website.
