Virgin Atlantic Announces Better Caribbean Connectivity
Virgin Atlantic has now announced new and expanded partnerships across the Caribbean, which open up even more opportunities for multi-island trips. You can now access even more Caribbean destinations with your bags checked all the way through to your final island.
Virgin’s latest partnership with InterCaribbean adds 11 onward connections from Barbados and Antigua to islands such as Dominica, St Lucia, St Kitts, Grenada, Kingston, and Turks & Caicos. There will also be onward travel to Georgetown, Guyana.
There has also been an expansion of Virgin’s existing partnership with Caribbean Airlines. The agreement now covers 16 destinations, including new links to Antigua and Barbados from Beef Island and San Juan.
Virgin’s own inter-island flights are increasing too. Services from Barbados to and from Grenada, along with St Vincent and the Grenadines, will rise from two to three flights per week, operated by the Airbus A330-900neo.
From the UK, Virgin has direct services from London Heathrow and Manchester to Barbados, as well as flights from Heathrow to Antigua, Montego Bay and beyond via partnerships. Virgin also has partnerships with Bahamas Air and Cayman Airways for onward travel.

Up to 60% off Iberostar resorts in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Spain. This offer only applies to stays completed by 31st October 2027 – a much bigger window than the other sales.

Loganair Steps in to Replace Blue Islands’ Routes
On Friday, Channel Islands airline Blue Islands announced it was cancelling all flights and suspending all operations. Hundreds of passengers were left stranded, and thousands were left without bookings.
On Saturday, Loganair had already stepped in and ‘rescue’ services began on Sunday (more info on the Loganair site here).
Loganair plans to take over many of the previous Blue Islands routes, including services from Jersey to Exeter, Southampton and Bristol. The Guernsey to Southampton route is pending regulatory approval. Guernsey to East Midlands and Leeds Bradford routes (seasonal)are also being considered.
This is not just a short-term intervention. Loganair plans to establish a permanent operating base in Jersey by March 2026 and take on as many of the Blue Islands staff as possible.
These new routes add new opportunities to earn Avios on flights to the Channel Islands. Depending on which fare you book, you’ll earn the following for a one-way flight:
- Fly: 410 Avios
- Fly Flex: 820 Avios
- Fly Flex+: 1,300 Avios

Do you know if the deal with InterCaribbean and Caribbean Airlines include imposing Virgin’s luggage allowance on them? These two airlines seem to have small planes and if Virgin’s business class customers get to check in 2 pieces of luggage each, then there will be a problem if these airlines refuse to accept that luggage.
It’s pretty unlikely the smaller airlines will match Virgin’s full baggage allowance. The deal mainly covers through-check-in, so they’ll probably stick to their own limits, meaning two big bags on those little planes might still be a problem.
