STATUS MATCHES: BA Gold equivalent airline match and BA silver equivalent hotel status match

With the end of the BA tier point year due at the end of March, you may be considering your next move with regard to status. If you already hold status with another airline or have hotel status and want to retain oneworld status, these two new offers are worth considering. If you want a BA silver equivalent, the Royal Jordanian offer is a better value if you have hotel status.

What does Oneworld status get you when travelling with BA?

Before we look at the individual status matches, let’s have a look at the benefits you could get while travelling with British Airways on Oneworld status.

Royal Air Maroc – airline status match for up to Oneworld Emerald (BA Gold)

Royal Air Maroc has a new status match that allows you to match BA Gold if you have status with another airline. It does say that if they suspect you have not earned your status through the usual means and have obtained a status match, your application may be declined. Given that most status matches are handled by the same company, I’m guessing they would know. US airline status and hotel matches are not allowed.

There is an end date of 31 December 2025, but sometimes, if they get too many applications, they can shut it earlier. Platinum matches are particularly limited. 

There are also the fees to consider:

• USD $149 for Silver (BA Bronze)
• USD $349 for Gold (BA Silver)
• USD $749 for Platinum (BA Gold)

Fees are non-refundable once the Status Match application has been approved.

A Safar Flyer membership number is required to participate in the promotion. You can join Safar Flyer here. If your application is approved, you will receive your new frequent flyer status with Safar Flyer within 3 business days, valid until 31 December 2026.

To apply you need your Safar Flyer membership number, your other airline status number/card or proof and a valid qualifying e-mail address at which we can reach you.

During the registration process, they will ask you for proof of your frequent flyer status (e.g., a photo of your status card) and may also ask for a copy of your ID.

What benefits are the Safar Flyer loyalty status levels offering?

30-day 3x Status Miles Booster Bonus

All approved applicants after 11 November 2025 will also receive a complimentary 30-day 3x Status Miles Booster.

This booster will activate on your Safar Flyer account automatically from 1 January  2026 and will be valid until 31 January 2026.

Royal Jordanian – match hotel status to Oneworld Sapphire/BA Silver equivalent

Royal Jordanian is offering Oneworld Sapphire (BA Club Silver equivalent)status if you have top-tier hotel status. There is also a match to airline status, which is a better value for Silver than the Royal Air Maroc offer. You can find the airline matches here.

The offer is on until 8 December 2025. The fee is a fairly reasonable $199 for BA Silver equivalent. If you are planning any long-haul trips with BA and would buy seats in business class, the fee is probably cheaper than paying for seat selection as this can cost over £100 per seat. It also gives lounge access, so overall it’s a decent deal.

A Royal Club membership number is required to participate in the promotion. You can enrol in the Royal Club program here.

Once approved, it may take up to 5 business days until your frequent flyer status is upgraded in your Royal Club customer account.

To participate in the promotion, you need your Royal Club membership number, your other loyalty status number/card or proof for verification, and a valid qualifying e-mail address. During the registration process, they will also ask you for proof of your other loyalty status (e.g., a photo of your status card). You may be asked for proof of identity.
