Hilton Auckland – perfect if you just snapped up a Qatar bargain from Manchester to Auckland

Singapore Airlines ex EU more bargains

Singapore B777 business class seat

Reader David commented yesterday about the Singapore bargains from Stockholm to let us know about some options from Istanbul too. Obviously flying from Istanbul may not be everybody’s cup of tea but the price for Bali makes it well worth considering. Singapore fly a B777 from here and the seats are not as good as the A350/A380 but you do get to use the rather nice Turkish Airlines lounge at Istanbul.

Here are the fares from Istanbul starting from:

  • Bali £1065
  • Bangkok £1472
  • Kuala Lumpur £1461
  • Ho Chi Minh City £1469
  • Singapore £1461
  • Tokyo £1541

You can book these via the Turkish Singapore Airlines page here.

Get up to 40% off BA European flights with Vitality

If you are thinking of buying health insurance it may be worth knowing that Vitality offer a special discount on BA European flights for customers.  The discount can be used on flights within the UK or departing from and returning to the UK. Discounts apply to the total cost of the flight, including all taxes and charges. It applies to standard, hand baggage only, semi-flexible and fully-flexible fares. It doesn’t apply to optional extras, such as special baggage fees.

For flights leaving between Sunday and Thursday, there must be at least two nights between the outbound and return flights. For flights leaving on a Friday or Saturday, there must be at least one night between the outbound and return flights. Any non-members accompanying you on the flight booking will not be eligible for a discount.

The discount is not really worth a lot at the lowest level but once you get to Gold and Platinum it could be a lot more valuable.

Obviously, it is worth comparing what the insurance costs and whether it is cheaper elsewhere as the discount is not huge until you get to the higher status levels.

You can find more details on the Vitality offer here.

Do you have any examples of the Hilton sale prices to document. It’s just I’ve read some bad press about previous Hilton sale prices where they are not much better than standard prices. Be good to see some quick examples you found to see if it is actually a good deal or not.

Hi Adam, I think what you are referring to is when the discount is based on the flexible rate and in fact the sale rate is not that much cheaper than the advance purchase rate. This sale is based on the best available rate which is better. As an example for this sale, the Conrad in London is coming up at £209 for Honors members in the sale. Usually the cheapest I see this is £229. The current normal Hilton Honors rate is £273 but that is refundable. Obviously, it is hard to comment exactly as hotel prices vary all the time but looking at my regular London hotels, it appears to be a decent discount on the usual rates.

Thanks Michelle for clarifying the differences in the recent offers.

Although Istanbul may be a bit out of the way it does make for a great stopover. It has a stunning array of 5 star hotels (probably only out done by London or Paris in Europe ) and at great prices – Four seasons for £200 or Park Hyatt for £150.

Thanks David. It’s somewhere I haven’t been so good to have some tips!
