Fares on Qatar have been extremely high recently. Even taking that into account, the Black Friday deals from the UK on Qatar are frankly poor, especially since they have reduced the benefits on the lowest price fares. The fares will be business class lite which means no lounge access or seat selection unless you have status. However, you can pay for these as extras. If you have status, then the new frequent flyer lounges are pretty good, so I’d be very happy to book a lite fare in future. You can see my review of the new lounges here.
Whether we see any other deals that are not advertised pop up remains to be seen.
UK deals
The sale has a banner saying about their “incredible fares”. The only thing incredible about many of the UK fares is how eye-wateringly expensive they are compared to elsewhere in Europe! On one fare there is £1403 difference between the cheapest European price and the UK price!

Don’t forget they are likely to be in the new business classic which does not give seat selection or lounge access automatically. However, if you have status, I would definitely have no hesitation in booking since you can still select seats and have lounge access to their new frequent flyer lounges which are decent. You can read more here about lite fares.
It’s also worth checking the price with BA as they can be slightly cheaper for booking Qatar Airways flights and do have lounge access and seat selection.

Ex EU deals

The EU deals are much better. While if you are still working on fares for 2019-2021 they may seem high, for 2022 they are pretty good. Airfares are still very high currently, particularly for Qatar Airways and these are decent deals.
However, during my research, I have found some other non Black Fridays fares for Finnair and BA that are better value so you may want to hang on until their sales launch later this week.

The cheapest starting points and fares are:
To | Prices from | Departure points |
Dubai and Abu Dhabi | £1,197.00 | Bucharest, Stockholm, Oslo, Sofia |
Muscat | £1,745.00 | Budapest |
Seychelles | £2,023.00 | Oslo, Budapest |
Maldives | £1,980.00 | Budapest, Milan, Rome, Madrid |
Windhoek | £1,993.00 | Berlin, Paris, Vienna |
Johannesburg | £1,786.00 | Sofia, Berlin |
Cape Town | £1,871.00 | Vienna, Prague, Amsterdam, Milan, Berlin |
Tanzania | £1,990.00 | Paris, Berlin |
Mount Kilimanjaro | £1,990.00 | Paris, Berlin |
Nairobi | £2,047.00 | Bucharest, Budapest |
New Delhi | £1,392.00 | Frankfurt |

Far cry from the 2015 £500 business fares to BKK from Oslo!
This Qatar prices are around for 2 months already
Really poor sale from Qatar. That is if you can even call it a sale.
Definitely on the UK front. The odd EU bargain but that’s it.
Think after the World Cup is over, we might get a better biz class sale. Haven’t found a thing jan/Feb l mean under 2k worth looking at. Am sure we will get a better one in a month or so…
APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE but I have to speak out and encourage everyone to consider how they spend their business travel and leisure money.
The easiest thing to say is that this forum is non political BUT the concept of RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL AND TOURISM is a real and growing one, from the way in which hotels, resorts, airlines and other providers in the industry are approaching managing their carbon footprints, to the very real concerns about the way tourism can affect local communities for good or bad outcomes.
As a Travel Industry professional, retired, I have watched in horror the way Qatar and her various State Owned instruments have sought IMHO to sportswash human rights abuses during the current World Cup. 6500 poorly paid, passport confiscated migrant workers have been killed during the construction of stunning stadia. Women are not even second class citizens and don’t talk about the abuse of gay people but at least they’re not being chucked off buildings as they are in Iran. Yet.
His Excellency Mr Baker says women can’t run an airline- it’s a man’s job so maybe we should all think about patronising his autocratically run airline instead of patronising it, despite the excellent Q seats and the signature Meze. Perhaps we should all be thinking about RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL a little more. Just saying…
I completely agree. It seems that we turn a blind eye to the shortcomings of Middle Eastern regimes when it comes to their airlines. Qatar Airways is wholly owned by the Qatar government and is therefore is as Qatari as the World Cup. Surely anyone who is appalled by the Qatari government should not be flying on Qatar Airways. If you are not, then ignore this.
In fact, it looks like the Qatar offer is Black Friday fare increases from the UK.
I was looking for a pair of business class return tickets UK to Bali for next year. Last week, before the sale, it was a shade over £8k for two.
In the Qatar Black Friday sale, the fare is over £12k for two!
It’s such a shame how they no longer have decent fares from the UK. They’ve always been high from here but there was the odd bargain at least!
Sometimes cheaper on BA (codeshare). Searching for a MAN – BNE for Mar-Apr 4 week trip. Found the fare for £5.8k rtn in J, vs £8k on Qatar for same flight!
Wow that’s a huge difference!!!
I have tried to follow the advice as I am currently searching for a KUL biz ticket for December. I was curious about the MAD-KUL price in this post but looking at Qatar Black Friday sales I am not coming even close to that number. It’s at least double the price then shown above. What am I doing wrong? Please advise.
The rules state that travel dates are from January. You will be very lucky to find any Black Friday sales that cover December.
