Today’s post is a round up of all the new offers and a reminder of those still going from just before Christmas:
British Airways and Cathay Pacific
There are still some good deals in the BA sale such as Chicago for £1874 in First class and quite a few other First bargains too. You can find the full rundown on the BA sale in this article.
£1959 with BA/Cathay Pacific to Australia

I am a fan of Cathay Pacific and in fact, on my last trip to Australia, I flew with them. Great though they are, they are normally prohibitively expensive to Australia. However, a good sale fare has come up, which although it is ex EU, does get you a great fare on Cathay. There are a few drawbacks such as flying into Heathrow but out of Gatwick but there is an overnight break that can be built in which makes that a lot simpler. You also obviously have to double back on yourself to Heathrow but for these sort of prices for a decent airline, you can’t complain really!
The fare is from Stockholm. You can read my guide to flying ex EU from Scandinavian airports here.
The rules of the fare are:
- Free stopover in Hong Kong both ways
- Minimum stay 3 days
- Valid for travel commencing on/after 1 Jan 19 and on/
before 30 Jun 19. - Book by 31 January 2019
The fare can only be booked via travel agents. You can find the lowest prices using Skyscanner and the travel agents that have them available.
Qatar Airways Bangkok from £1134 (EDIT: GONE but read on….)
EDIT: Unfortunately the Qatar fare has disappeared, however, the fare is available in March but on Air Italy which Qatar own. This would be on an ex Qatar A330 and also direct. You earn Avios on Air Italy but not tier points. The fare can be booked with Expedia.

Well, it may not be the sale we have been waiting for but there is finally a decent price on a Qatar flight to the Far East. Even if you are headed somewhere else in Asia it could be worth jumping on this one anyway as Bangkok is well connected to the rest of Asia. Some of the flights to Bangkok also feature the QSuites which can be found on certain B777 and A350 aircraft. You can read my review here.
The rules are:
- Travel outbound – permitted Sun through Thu. Inbound – permitted Mon through Fri.
- Minimum stay 5 days
- No stopovers
- Valid for travel until 31 December 2019
- Book by 4 January 2019
- Blackout dates:
- Outbound – travel is not permitted 27 Jul 19 through 11 Aug 19 for departure from fare origin.
- inbound – travel is not permitted 21-31 Dec 19 for departure of first international sector.
The fare can be booked through Qatar Airways website.
Other interesting fares out of Milan include:
British Airways to Singapore from £1718
British Airways to Seychelles from £1991 (£600 cheaper than from Heathrow)
British Airways to Hong Kong from £1718

The Qatar deal from Milan has been pulled already. It was pulled on Friday evening sadly….
Can’t find those lhr-bkk flights anywhere, is that each way?
Unfortunately it looks like it has now gone.
I was waiting for a Qatar sale to Asia for the past 4 months. Jumped on the Milan one as soon as it popped up. Very happy with £1100 return in Business. It’s meant to have Qsuite on two of the legs but we’ll see!
Hi Michelle,
I have been waiting for a good fare on oneworld to Oz, finally one has arrived – though I can’t find one to Sydney. Looks like Brisbane is the best I can find today. Where is the one for less than £2k with Cathay?
Thanks…..
The Cathay one is on BA back to London and then Cathay the rest of the way.
I can still see the BKK fare for March which is pretty open.
Hi Eugene. The fare I can see for March is Air Italy
Hi Michele,
I see now that you mention flying into lhr from ARN, and out of lgw with Cathay. Is that how you achieved the lower fare? I am struggling to find this combination. Please help.
Ideally I am looking to travel outbound to Sydney (or Brisbane) from ARN on the 3rd April returning from SYD on the 17 April with a layover in HKG for 3 nights. Does the low fare you have found work for these dates?
Thanks…….
