Hawaiian Airlines Oneworld Updates

Hawaiian Airlines will become Oneworld’s 16th member in spring 2026. This is around the same time Alaska and Hawaiian are expected to move onto a single passenger service system after Alaska acquired Hawaiian for $1.9 billion. Here are the latest updates:

Oneworld Membership and Status

Once Hawaiian joins Oneworld, you’ll be able to book partner flights. Popular Hawaiian routes include West Coast routes to Honolulu, Maui, Kauai, Kona and inter-island hops. You’ll be able to fly to the US with Oneworld partners – American and BA to Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle, then continue onto Hawaii with one ticket.

If you hold Oneworld status, benefits will apply once Hawaiian officially joins. The new Alaska-Hawaiian Airlines joint loyalty programme ATMOS Rewards, has recently been revealed, along with how the status levels will coincide with Oneworld tiers:

  • ATMOS Silver = Oneworld Ruby
  • ATMOS Gold = Oneworld Sapphire
  • ATMOS Platinum = Oneworld Emerald
  • ATMOS Titanium = Oneworld Emerald

The Fleet

There are also announcements about the Alaska-Hawaiian fleet. Alaska Airlines will take over Hawaiian’s Boeing 787s for its own long-haul routes, leaving Hawaiian’s 24 Airbus A330s for flights between Honolulu, the mainland US and Asia-Pacific.

There will be new Business Class seats, and a new Premium Economy will replace the extra comfort rows, which will be branded ‘Premium Class’ and have 4 inches more legroom. Cabin experiences on both airlines will be consistent. This change will be in the system from tomorrow for flights departing on or after 22nd April 2026.

This is a busy time for Oneworld, with Fiji Airways and Oman Air having recently joined.

Two Excellent New AMEX Marriott Cashback Offers – Not Just the Marriott Card

AMEX has just launched a new cashback offer for stays at Marriott hotels in Europe. Two offers are running, depending on whether you have the Marriott AMEX card:

  • £100 statement credit when you spend £500 or more – Multiple AMEX cards
  • £75 when you spend £200 or more – Marriott AMEX

Both offers are valid until 31st December 2025 and available to a limited number of cardholders, so make sure you register quickly.

The offers are only available to selected cardmembers. To see if you’ve been targeted, open your Amex app, go to the ‘Offers’ tab, and save the Marriott cashback offer to your card. Remember that supplementary cardholders can also register for the offer if targeted.

The list of participating hotels is huge. It includes hotels in Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.  You can view the full list here. The list initially seems quite random, but Marriott has listed the hotels A-Z.

This is a popular promotion that’s run before and runs around twice per year. For example, if you spend £500 on a stay, you’ll get £100 back onto your AMEX card. That’s a 20% saving. If you make the most of the Marriott Bonvoy AMEX offer, a £200 stay with £75 back is a 37.5% discount!

This is ideal if you have a Marriott stay coming up. If there’s any chance you’ll stay at a Marriott before 31st December 2025, make sure to save the offer to your card now.

Up to 40% Bonus When You Buy or Gift Marriott Points – Yearly Purchase Limit Increased!

You can earn a 30-40% bonus when you buy or gift Marriott Bonvoy Points from now until 7th December. Your bonus is targeted depending on your account. The annual purchase limit has also been increased to 200,000 points, up from the usual 150,000, which is ideal if you’ve already made the most of purchasing points this year.

To check your bonus, sign in to your Marriott Bonvoy account and go to the Buy Points page. The system will automatically display your personalised offer before purchase.

My Offer – 35%

I’ve been targeted with 35% which is not as good as the previous offer in March when I was targeted with 40%. The 35% bonus includes a 30% bonus with purchases of 2,000-39,000 points and a 35% bonus with purchases of 40,000-200,000 points.

Worth It?

Whether this offer is worth it really depends on which bonus you’ve been targeted with and the number of points needed for your redemption. Here’s the value per point (based on today’s currency conversion rates) depending on the bonus you’re targeted with. Whichever offer you have, it’s $12.50 (£9.37) per 1,000 points.

Bonus Points Received After Bonus Cost per Point
30% 260,000 0.96¢ (0.72p)
35% 270,000 0.93¢ (0.70p)
40% 280,000 0.89¢ (0.67p)

Last time there was a similar Marriott offer, we used the Ritz-Carlton Osaka as an example:

A night in a standard room is priced at £738.90 or  89,000 points on 1st November. Depending on which offer you’re targeted with a night paid for via buying points would cost £575 and £650, so you can save £90 to £165 per night paying with points. Even if you’re targeted with the lowest 30% offer, it’s still cheaper to pay with points. Points can also be convenient for Marriott’s 5th Night Free benefit on award bookings.

Things to Note:

  • Points post to your account within 72 hours after purchase

  • If you open a new account, you can only purchase points after 30 days, as long as you have qualifying activity (or 1 year without).

  • You can purchase a minimum of 1,000 points, but you’ll only receive a bonus on purchases of 2,000+ points (and not the full bonus).

This offer may not offer a bonus as big as previous offers, but there’s still value here. If you’re planning a trip soon, make sure you work out the cost of buying points for your stay vs paying cash so you can get the best value.

You can purchase Marriott points here >>>
