Earn 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points with the Marriott Bonvoy American Express® Credit Card
American Express has launched a strong new offer for the Marriott Bonvoy American Express® Credit Card, boosting the usual welcome bonus from 20,000 to 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. This limited-time offer is available until 15 July 2025 and applies only to new cardmembers.
What’s on Offer?
-
60,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points when you spend £3,000 in your first three months
-
Automatic Silver Elite status in Marriott Bonvoy
-
15 Elite Night Credits every calendar year – putting you on the fast track to Gold or Platinum Elite status
-
2X points on everyday spending and 6X points at Marriott hotels
-
Free Night Award each year when you spend £25,000 (worth up to 25,000 points – or top up with your own points to book nights worth up to 40,000 points)
-
£95 annual fee, with a representative APR of 53.7% variable, including the fee
Why It’s Worth Considering
This is only the second time American Express has offered such a high bonus on this card. Based on a typical valuation of 0.5p per Marriott point, the 60,000 bonus is worth around £300 in free hotel stays, and potentially more with smart redemptions. You can also convert the bonus into 25,000 airline miles, including Avios, Virgin Points, and many others.
With recent changes to the British Airways Executive Club, including reduced upgrade rewards and increased Avios pricing on short-haul flights, some travellers may find greater long-term value in hotel points. The Marriott Bonvoy programme offers strong flexibility and the ability to transfer points to over 40 airline partners, making it a strategic alternative for those rethinking their Avios earning strategy.
To be eligible for the welcome bonus, you must not have held a personal American Express card in the past 24 months. You can still apply if you’ve had a business or supplementary Amex card.
You’ll also need to:
-
Be 18 or over
-
Earn at least £20,000 a year
-
Be a UK resident with a UK bank account
-
Be a Marriott Bonvoy member (join free at marriott.com)
Cardholders receive 15 elite night credits each year, enough for Silver Elite automatically. Complete just 10 more nights in a year to reach Gold Elite. For Platinum Elite, the real sweet spot for benefits, you only need to add 35 more nights.
Platinum Elite perks include:
-
Executive lounge access (excluding Ritz-Carlton)
-
Suite upgrades (where available)
-
Free breakfast or welcome amenities
-
4pm guaranteed late checkout (with exceptions)
Apply for the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Credit Card before 15 July 2025 to secure your 60,000-point bonus.
Cathay Pacific Reopens The Bridge Lounge at Hong Kong Airport
Cathay Pacific has reopened one of its most popular lounges, The Bridge, at Hong Kong International Airport, giving it a fresh new look and feel. This marks the first step in a major lounge upgrade project across its global network.
Found near Gate 35 in Terminal 1, The Bridge now features a more relaxed, home-like vibe, with warm cherry wood accents, stylish furniture, lush greenery, and handpicked artwork from Cathay’s “Gallery in the Skies” collection.
The lounge is split into two main areas:
-
On the left, you’ll find the return of the famous Noodle Bar, serving favourites like wonton noodles and dim sum, along with a new dining concept called The Nook. This cosy corner serves Chinese small plates like crispy scallion pancakes, steamed bao, and rice rolls, some served from a custom dim sum cart that adds a local, nostalgic touch.
-
On the right, there’s a dedicated space for First class passengers and Diamond members, along with the international Food Hall. You will find comforting dishes like beef bourguignon, fresh pastries, and colourful salads. The Bar, overlooking the runway, serves everything from barista coffee to Champagne.
Coming soon, The Bridge will also be the first Cathay lounge to introduce biometric check-in, streamlining the welcome process.
This reopening comes as Cathay starts work on upgrading other lounges, including The Wing, First (closing 23 May and reopening in 2026), and eventually The Wing, Business. In the meantime, The Deck will serve as a temporary First class space, and The Pier lounges remain open for guests.
With more upgrades on the way, including brand-new flagship lounges in Beijing and New York, Cathay is clearly investing in making lounge experiences more stylish, comfortable, and thoughtful than ever.
