OFFER: AMAZING UK Swiss/Lufthansa sale live, 50 destinations – First from £1500, business from £500 (Maldives from £1300!)

Lufthansa First

Last week I wrote about the Swiss companion fares that were popping up. If you tried and failed to get what you wanted, it may be worth another try now the sale has launched with both Swiss and Lufthansa properly. There is now a huge choice of destinations with over 50 business class destinations. Some of these are very low prices from the UK such as The Maldives from £1300 per person. The sale is bookable until 3 February 2020, but I would not hang around if you have your eye on something as availability is always limited at sale prices.

The rules:

  • You can travel in pairs or as a group of up to 6 adults
  • Travel up to  10.12.2020 (for China 01.02.2020-31.08.2020)
  • Not changeable or refundable
  • Bookable from the origins London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle, Bristol, Edinburgh
  • No minimum stay
  • Travel on Lufthansa or Swiss

Business class

Swiss B777 business class seat

Given a choice, I would choose Swiss over Lufthansa for business class. You can read Claudio’s recent review of Lufthansa long haul business class here. The Swiss cabins have a sophisticated feel to them with light wood with dark accents and seats. There is one flaw, in my opinion. The business class seats are not very comfortable for sleeping on the older A330 aircraft. They feel like they have a slight slope and are very low to the ground. They also had quite large gaps between the seat cushions when in bed mode.

However, at these prices, you may well think it is worth it, even for the older aircraft. I found them perfectly comfortable for sitting. The new seats on the B777 are much better and a good quality product. The B777s are available on quite a few routes such as Zurich to Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong.

First class

Private first terminal Frankfurt

Both Swiss and Lufthansa offer excellent first class products. I would probably go for Lufthansa for the ground services where you get a private First terminal at Frankfurt and driven to the aircraft in a Porsche! They also serve caviar on board too! I have flown Swiss first class and would highly recommend it too. It may not be as fancy as some of the Middle East airlines, but it is a sophisticated product with great food and service. Some of the prices are similar to what you would pay for a normal business class ticket, so they offer good value for money. Roving Reporter will be doing a review of his Swiss First experience in the future. Paul is also flying Swiss First this year.

  1. Don’t get overexcited..availability for most destinations – esp Far East – is poor unless you want to go to HK in August

  2. Picked up 10 days in Thailand in November for the headline price. Very happy, and would probably have cancelled any existing redemption booking for that sort of price, which is almost Qatar-from-Nordics level, without the faff of ex-EU.

If you’re having problems finding availability, I’d use the calendar on the below link. Many dates were wide open when we booked last night.

  3. Availability is very mixed. Some destinations have absolutely nothing (Addis Ababa, Manila, Chennai for example) and others have very good availability. So it really depends where you want to go.

Anybody know if there’s a Lufthansa calendar for a quicker availability search?
