NEWS & OFFERS: Singapore Airlines offer from Manchester, 60% Virgin Points bonus and Qatar Holidays pay with Avios 20% off/earn QMiles

  • 29/06/2023
  • Michele

In this post:

  • Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club up to 60% bonus
  • Singapore Airlines offer
  • Qatar Airways Holidays – pay with Avios/earn QPoints

Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club up to 60% bonus

Virgin Atlantic’s Flying Club is offering members a bonus of up to 60% when buying Virgin Points from now until 31st July 2023. Flying Club members will be able to buy up to 200k Virgin Points (320,000 including the bonus which costs £3000) and get up to 60% bonus points with their transactions.

Virgin Atlantic

As I always say, it is worth taking the offer if you need to top up for something, but I generally don’t advise buying speculatively. If you want to use them for something specific, check if there is availability immediately before purchase and also accept that the seats could go even in that short space of time. When making the calculations about whether it is cheaper to buy the points you should take into account the taxes and fees which are about £750pp in Upper Class for redemptions.

Up to 60% bonus promo:

• < 3,000 — No Bonus
• 3,000 – 19,000: 20% Bonus
• 20,000 – 64,000: 30% Bonus
• 65,000 – 99,000: 50% Bonus
• 100,000 – 200,000: 60% Bonus

The buy points special offer web page is here.

The offer is also perfect timing for anyone looking to top up their Virgin Points balance to take advantage of Virgin Atlantic’s 30% reward seat sale for flights to the US which I wrote about here.

Singapore Airlines offer

Singapore Airlines A350 business class seat in bed mode
Singapore Airlines A350 bed in bulkhead seats (older seat)

Singapore Airlines has a reputation for great onboard service and very wide business class seats – plus, they serve a mean Singapore Sling cocktail! They may not be your first thought when travelling to the US, but they have a fifth freedom route from Manchester to Houston in Texas, and you can also start from Aberdeen with a connecting flight on Loganair. While there are other routes that may be slightly cheaper, there is only a minimum one-night stay, so this may be better value for short stays.

You can fly between 16 August 2023 – 31 May 2024 and must book by 18 July 2023.

They have launched a special offer to fly to Houston as follows:

Manchester

  • Premium Economy £1069
  • Business class £2019

Aberdeen

  • Premium Economy £1190
  • Business class £2250

You can check availability and see further information on the special offer page for Manchester here and Aberdeen here.

Qatar Airways Holidays – pay with Avios/earn QPoints

You can now use your Avios towards Qatar Airways Holidays in the same way that you can book British Airways Holidays. This is generally not a very good value way to use your Avios, the best redemptions are normally for flights (not part-pay with Avios). However, if you are struggling to use them, it is worth bearing in mind.  If you are tempted to use them for this, now is the time to do it as there is a special offer. If you book your package by 31 July 2023 it will cost 20% less Avios.

They have also copied British Airways’ idea of collecting status points on bookings. Now you can collect 1 Qpoint for every USD 100 spent on Qatar Airways Holidays. This is up to a total of 600 Q Points for non-flight activities in a tier year.

You can check the prices of Qatar Airways holidays here.

Has anyone told virgin about these extra points on offer? The link on your page, takes you to ‘page, not found’ and Virgin don’t mention any offer if I sign in to my Flying Club Account and try and buy points

I have updated the link. For some reason yesterday the main Virgin buy points page was not offering the bonus and the link I inlcuded did not seem to work. It is fixed now.

Always go with what head for points publish .. often this website has errors and is far inferior and slow to the game

That’s a pretty unpleasant comment. And yet here you are still reading TLFL! Perhaps you should ask for a refund of your TLFL subscription..oh wait….The link is now fixed. For some reason when I first published the normal Virgin buy points page was not giving the bonus and I did not want people to not get the bonus which is why I used a different link which is what I had been given in the email. Virgin had emailed to tell people about the points but for some reason not updated their page. So I was too early! I’d hardly say that was my fault.

Apart from the fact that I sometimes publish things before HfP, I don’t do credit card referrals and therefore can’t afford to have a staff of 3 people like HfP. So yes despite working 7 days a week sometimes I publish behind HfP and sometimes I publish in advance of them. We generally work off the same information but choose to publish things at diferent times. HfP also has errors now and again. We are all human.

I’d love every person that makes nasty comments on blogs to have the same experience at their work where people that pay them absolutely nothing make horrible comments to them all day.

We make plenty of mistakes and as we only publish AM you will often see stuff on here first!

Thanks for the support Rob. I honestly don’t think people have any appreciation of how much work it is to run a website like yours or mine. I think they think we all just swan around on press trips to nice places all the time.

I was taken by surprise by @queenelizabetholympicp I was taken by surprise by @queenelizabetholympicpark and Stratford. I went to review the @hyattlondonstratford Regency hotel but was surprised at how easy it was to get there and get around London so easily. There’s so much on the doorstep from the Westfield shopping centre to the @londonaquaticcentre where Tom Daley trains. There’s a huge restaurant scene here with every sort of cuisine you can think of. I loved all the outdoor terraces to. I ate at Alpine restaurant @haugenldn and was impressed with the range of dishes from wild mushroom rosti to fondue. There’s also a great roof terrace.
