Match Your ITA Volare Status to Lufthansa Miles & More
Miles & More, the Lufthansa Group’s frequent flyer programme, has launched a free status match offer for ITA Volare status holders. If you’re eligible, you’ll be informed about the match when looking at your Volare status overview.
Until 10th June 2025, you can match your ITA Volare Status with Lufthansa Miles & More. Ever since the announcement of ITA joining the Lufthansa Group (and moving from SkyTeam to Star Alliance), there has been hope that a status match would be launched, and here it is!
The match is based on the number of Volare Points you had in your account on 31st January 2025. Unfortunately, you won’t be eligible if you earned status through flying or spending after this date or via a previous match. This also eliminates anyone who gained ITA status through another status match from being eligible for this one.
The matches are as follows:
- Volare Plus – 30,000-59,999 Volare points – Frequent Traveller – Star Alliance Silver
- Volare Premium and Volare Executive – 60,000+ Volare Points – Senator – Star Alliance Gold
After the match, you will have status with both airlines, and you can choose which one to use when you fly. Your Volare status will expire on 31st December 2025 (the Volare expiration date).
Your Miles & More status will be valid until February 2026. You’ll need to requalify to retain it beyond this date.
The Mile&More programme has high criteria for status qualification. For example, if you want to keep your Senator status, you must earn 1,000 qualifying points and 2,000 status points in a calendar year. For Frequent Traveller status, you’ll need 650 status points and 325 qualifying points in a calendar year.
I expect that other airlines may also offer status matches in the near future, but for now, Miles & More is heading in the right direction to persuade Volare status holders to move across to Miles & More. There have also been hints of another status match at the end of the year for people who have participated in this one. If you are eligible for this one, it’s a great opportunity!

Match Your Oneworld (Selected Airlines) or Emirates Status to ITA Volare
Until 10th June 2025, you can apply to match your status free with a range of airline loyalty programmes to ITA. Your new status will be valid until 31st December 2025.
Most airlines are Oneworld, but you can also match to Emirates, which isn’t part of any alliance. You will need status with one of these airlines above the base level.
Airline loyalty programmes eligible for the match include:
ITA elite status comes with a range of benefits. Here’s a quick overview:
- Volare Club Plus: Extra baggage allowance, free seat selection in the Club area, 10% points bonus on spending, priority boarding, priority luggage and business class Sky Priority check-in.
- Volare Club Premium: fast-track security, lounge access, 20% points bonus on spending.
- Volare Club Executive: Guest privileges in lounges. 30% points bonus on spending, free checked golf equipment.

Even though the ITA Volare loyalty programme expires in January 2026 and ITA is set to leave SkyTeam on 30 April 2025, if you opt for this match, you can still enjoy benefits with 6 SkyTeam airlines while your status lasts. For some partners, this includes lounge access for Volare Premium status holders and above!

To apply for a status match, go to the ‘Request a Status Match’ section of your Volare account.
You must then provide the necessary documents, which include a copy of your passport and current airline status membership card.
Your new status and card will be awarded within 60 days of your application.

Things to Note

- ‘Eligible’ rides include UberX, UberXL, Uber Assist, Uber Access, Uber Comfort, Uber Exec, Uber Lux, Uber Reserve, Uber Pet, Uber Green, and Uber Black.
- Rides must be booked in the UK or Northern Ireland.
- Bonus Avios will be awarded within 7 days.

“Loyalty card expiration not present”, is the reason ITA status match declined to gold BA card – but there are no expiration dates on BA cards now because they all expire at the end of March.
Not sure how to reslove this to get ITA status matched
