10% back on flights & car hire, plus double Avios & why Uber One could be worth considering

If you already have Uber One, there are several good offers currently. Earning Avios on Uber is great for a quick top-up as they post within 24 hours usually. Uber One is a subscription that gives you discounts on Uber Cars and Uber Eats. It also regularly has offers, like the ones I am writing about today. It costs £4.99/month or £49.99/year.

You get:

  • £0 Delivery Fee on eligible food, groceries, and more on Uber Eats.
  • Reduced Service Fees on Uber Eats
  • Save up to 60% on Service Fees on Uber Eats.
  • Earn 5% Uber One credit on eligible Uber rides (incl. UberX, Comfort and UberXL) and 10% Uber One credit on Exec and Lux.
  • Trains and flights – Earn 10% in Uber credits when you book trains and flights in the Uber app.

The downside with Uber credit is that it expires 60 days after issue. You also have to use them in the UK. They can be spent on trains (including Eurostar), rides or eats. It is unclear if you can spend it on flights. When testing the option to buy a flight, it displayed an Uber credit option, but my balance was shown as zero, despite being below £1.

The first offer is for Double Avios, which you should have received an alert on the app for if you are eligible.

There’s also an Uber Car Hire offer for Uber One members booked and picked up before 31 December 2026. You get 10% of the value of your Uber Car Hire reservation, up to £250 GBP, not including applicable taxes. It may take up to 90 days after the vehicle-hire pick-up date.

Finally, there is an offer for 10% Uber credit for flights for Uber One members when you book and travel by 31 December 2025.  You get the credit 10 days after you take the outbound flight. There is no mention in the T&C  of any limit on the price of the flights.

It could be worth checking the price of flights in the Uber app if you think you might use the credit, or even just joining for one month for £4.99.

5000 Avios bonus with The Wine Flyer

British Airways Wine Flyer
British Airways Wine Flyer

Topping up your Avios can be done in a variety of ways, and I’ve found that using a service like The Wine Flyer is a great alternative to simply buying them.

One of the best things about The Wine Flyer is that the Avios you earn are credited to your account within 24 hours. This is a huge advantage over many online shopping offers, which can sometimes take weeks for the Avios to appear.

By purchasing from The Wine Flyer, you’re not just getting the Avios you need; you also get a case of wine or other beverages. They have a variety of options, so you’re not limited to just wine. While the prices may sometimes be slightly higher than at other retailers, it’s a much better value than just buying Avios outright if you were planning to buy wine anyway.

The Wine Flyer has frequent promotions, so it is always worth waiting for an offer. The latest one runs until 26 August 2025.

You will receive up to 5,000 bonus Avios when you purchase from selected cases of wine. That’s on top of the usual Avios collected on The Wine Flyer (5 Avios per £1).

You can easily see on the page how many bonus Avios you will get with either 2000, 3000, 4000 or 5000  bonus Avios at checkout.

The offer cannot be stacked with any others. To get the bonus you need to use the code AUGBONUS at checkout.

British Airways suspends Gatwick-New York but expands multiple long-haul destinations

British Airways has announced it is boosting flights to long-haul destinations from London Gatwick and Heathrow for next summer. If you have been looking for Avios flights to these destinations, get in there quickly!

Bangkok

Following the addition of Bangkok last year, British Airways has confirmed that it will begin operating year-round flights from London Gatwick to Bangkok, upgrading the route from its previous winter-only schedule.

Starting in summer 2026, services to and from Bangkok will operate three times per week, and the airline will operate six weekly flights during the winter season. With BA’s codeshare partnership with Bangkok Airways, you can now connect to Phuket, Phnom Penh and more.

Jamaica

Jamaica

An additional weekly service to Kingston, Jamaica, from London Gatwick has been announced. British Airways will fly four flights per week for the summer 2026 season.

Miami & Dallas

South Beach, Miami

British Airways will reintroduce its double-daily service from London Heathrow to Miami International Airport. Additionally, the airline will reintroduce its daily service to Dallas-Fort Worth. This is good news if you would rather fly BA than American as Dallas is a large hub so great for onward connections. However, if you are connecting onto AA, you may want to fly with AA and take advantage of the new quicker connections.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas

The airline has also increased its services from Heathrow to Las Vegas from 10 to 13 flights per week.

San Diego & Austin

The flag carrier is also expanding its services to San Diego and Austin, operating 14 flights per week to both destinations. I did a driving holiday around Texas a couple of months ago and would really recommend it. I loved San Antonio with its riverwalk and Fredericksburg for its quaint old town and lovely vineyards.

New York JFK – Gatwick flights suspended

New York

New York (JFK) will be cut from Gatwick and will now operate exclusively from London Heathrow from 26 October judging by the flights I can see on sale. If you have a booking from Gatwick afgter that date I would expect you to be offered a swap to Heathow or a refund.

The airline will now operate nine flights from Heathrow to New York, with the latest addition at Heathrow operating on its 777-200 fleet, featuring First and Club Suites.

Middle East

Manama, Bahrain

British Airways has announced that it will offer a daily service from Heathrow to Bahrain, more than doubling the number of times it flies there per week.

Jeddah is transitioning to five flights per week, and Riyadh is upgrading to 14 per week services, improving connectivity between Saudi Arabia and London.

British Airways will also now fly to Doha 14 times per week.

Checking out the new No 1 lounge at @heathrow_airp Checking out the new No 1 lounge at @heathrow_airport T2. Very impressed with the elegant feel to the lounge. It’s definitely a step up from the older style of No1. I’d go as far to say that it looks better than quite a few airline lounges. All drinks are included apart from champagne and there was a good selection of tasty food as well. Full review coming soon. #airportlounge #heathrowairport #luxurytravel #no1lounge
