Win 1 million Avios plus get a 100 Avios bonus with Uber

There is a new promotion for anyone who has not yet linked their BA Club account to Uber. Although Uber changed the way you earn Avios to mean that UberX no longer counts, except for airports and Uber Reserve, you can still earn Avios on other Ubers. Points are normally credited very quickly, so it’s a great way to top up Avios without buying them.

Here are the current UK earning rates:

  • 2 Avios per £1 spent on UK Uber XL, Uber Exec, Uber Lux, Uber Comfort, Uber Exec XXL, Black Cab, and all Airport Trips (including UberX).
  • 2 Avios per £1 spent on Uber Travel Rail and Eurostar trips booked via the Uber platform.
  • 3 Avios per £1 spent on eligible Uber Reserve Trips in the UK.
  • 1 Avios per £1 spent on eligible UK (including Northern Ireland) Uber Eats orders with a minimum spend of £25.

You can win 1 million Avios by taking eligible trips on Uber between 17 August and 13 September 2026. One grand prize winner will receive 1 million Avios, and ten other members will each win 100,000 Avios. You must link your Uber and British Airways Club accounts to qualify.

How to Enter:

  • Open your Uber app and link your British Airways Club account under Settings and Rewards.
  • Complete eligible rides or travel bookings before 13 September 2026.
  • Every standard trip gives you 1 entry.
  • Prize Entries per Trip
    • Standard rides: 1 entry
    • Premium rides, train journeys, and airport trips: 2 entries
    • Uber Reserve trips: 3 entries

Plus, for newly linked accounts, you can collect 100 bonus Avios on your first eligible Uber trip within 30 days. This also ends on 13 September.

You can find the Avios Uber page here.

20% bonus on converting Revpoints to Avios

Yesterday I wrote about RevPoints and the new partner, Preferred Hotels. RevPoints is Revolut’s loyalty points scheme which allows you to transfer points from Revolut card spending into a number of airline schemes. This also includes the IHG Revolut card, so you can double-dip on points. RevPoints can be converted to Avios at a 1:1 ratio, but for a limited time there is a bonus.

Revolut

When you redeem RevPoints for Avios by 30 August 2026, you will receive an additional 20% in Avios. This works for accounts with British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia or Vueling. The offer is valid for existing customers residing in Ireland, the United Kingdom or Spain.

The Bonus Avios will be credited into your Eligible Airline Loyalty Programme account in up to 2 business days after the RevPoints redemption is complete.

You can find the BA promotion page here.

Virgin Trains move closer to launching Eurostar rival

Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group has cleared a massive regulatory hurdle in its bid to end Eurostar’s 30-year monopoly on passenger rail travel through the Channel Tunnel. The UK’s Office of Rail and Road formally granted Virgin Trains track access to operate up to 20 daily return services between London St Pancras and continental Europe, spanning from October 2030 to December 2040. This follows a critical agreement allowing Virgin to share Eurostar’s primary maintenance hub at the Temple Mills Depot in East London. Hopefully, when it launches it will allow customers to earn Virgin points too, although you can already earn points through Virgin train ticketing.

Despite securing vital British track rights, Virgin still faces many more hurdles before its signature red trains can enter service by its targeted 2030 launch date. The firm must finalise a commercial deal with French manufacturer Alstom to procure a fleet of 12 Avelia Stream high-speed trains, secure corresponding track access from European counterparts, and qualify for stringent cross-border safety certifications. Virgin is not the only player seeking to exploit the tunnel’s remaining 50% unused capacity; Italy’s state-backed Trenitalia is preparing its own 2029 launch. In response to the challenges, Eurostar has announced a massive €2 billion fleet expansion featuring double-decker trains.

As well as offering more choice and hopefully improving the customer experience due to increased competition, there is more good news for consumers. Ticket prices are expected to drop significantly once open-access competition breaks Eurostar‘s 30-year monopoly. Historically, Eurostar has faced widespread criticism for high, volatile fares, with last-minute tickets often priced higher than short-haul flights.
