New UK Emirates credit cards

Many years after Emirates discontinued its last MBNA credit cards in the UK, Jaja has launched two new Emirates-branded cards, both with a welcome bonus. There is also Silver status and fast track to Gold on the more expensive Premium card, but these come with a very hefty catch for renewal.

If you plan to fly Emirates a few times, this could be worth a look for the status and miles. However, if you collect miles from a few different airlines, you can also earn Emirates miles by converting your American Express Membership Rewards at a rate of 2 Membership Rewards points = 1 Emirates Skywards Mile. There’s a minimum transfer of  1,000 Membership Rewards points, and transfers take no more than 48 hours.

There are two cards:

Emirates Skywards Premium Credit Card

  • Skywards Miles earning per GBP equivalent spend:
    • Emirates: 3 Miles
    • Non‑GBP: 1.5 Miles
    • All other GBP: 1 Mile
  • Emirates Skywards Silver tier membership
  • Fast track to Gold tier membership
  • Earn 1 Tier Mile for every 4 Skywards Miles
  • Representative 107.2% APR (variable)
  • Annual fee: £250
  • Purchase Rate: 29.9%

The Emirates Skywards Premium Credit Card provides primary cardholders with complimentary Silver tier membership for 12 months from account opening, which can take up to eight weeks to reflect on your account. Existing Silver members receive a one-year extension, while Gold and Platinum statuses remain unaffected. To maintain Silver status from the second year, cardholders must spend £5,000 annually in non-GBP currency.

Additionally, a fast track to Gold status is available for one year upon spending £5,000 in non-GBP currency and £3,500 on flights via official Emirates channels within the first 12 months. To retain this Gold status annually, the requirement shifts to £5,000 in non-GBP currency and £5,000 spent on Emirates flights.

Emirates Skywards Rewards Credit Card

  • Skywards Miles earning per GBP equivalent spend:
    • Emirates: 2 Miles
    • Non‑GBP: 1 Mile
    • All other GBP: 1 Mile
  • Complimentary access to the Emirates lounges in the UK twice a year
  • Earn 1 Tier Mile for every 4 Skywards Miles
  • Annual fee: GBP 120
  • Purchase Rate: 29.9%
The Emirates Skywards Rewards Credit Card grants primary holders two complimentary entries per year to Emirates lounges across six UK airports, including London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Birmingham, Manchester, and Glasgow. This benefit is valid for one year from the card joining date when flying with Emirates, subject to space availability. While members can opt to transfer their lounge access to another passenger, the benefit strictly excludes those travelling on discounted industry, reward, or promotional tickets.

Welcome bonus

Emirates Skywards is offering a limited-time welcome bonus of up to 30,000 miles for new credit cardholders who apply by 30 November 2026. To qualify, applicants must not have held an Emirates credit card in the previous 24 months. Eligible Premium Credit Card holders will earn a one-time bonus of 30,000 Skywards Miles after spending £3,000 on eligible transactions within the first 90 days of account opening with a 20,000 mile bonus for Rewards Credit Card holders with the same criteria. The earned bonus miles will be credited to the member’s Skywards account within four to six weeks of posting the qualifying purchases.

More Miles on hotel stays, holidays and Accor transfer bonus

Separate to the cards is a new promotion to earn extra miles on holidays and hotels plus a transfer bonus until 30 November:

  • Emirates Skywards Hotels: Earn 50% bonus Miles on hotel stays.
  • Emirates Holidays: Earn 50% bonus Miles on holiday packages.

5000 bonus points for selected members

This extra offer could be targeted based on the wording, but I was accepted when I registered. The promotion is also part of the sale, but it has virtually no details.

To benefit from the 5,000 bonus Reward Points, members must:

  • Register for the offer before booking.
  • Book an eligible stay through an eligible Accor direct channel.
  • Provide their valid ALL membership number at the time of booking.
  • Complete the eligible stay.

This offer is limited to one bonus allocation of 5,000 Reward Points per member during the promotional period. Only the first eligible stay booked after registration and completed during the offer period will qualify.

The bonus points will be credited within 10 days.

You can find the offer page and register here.
