Earn Bonus Virgin Points with a Winter Stay with Booking.com
From 4th November to 2nd December 2025 you can book a stay in the UK or Europe with Booking.com and earn bonus Virgin Points. Virgin Red members will earn 10 points for every £1 spent (normally eight points per £1).
To earn Virgin Points, you need to make your purchase by accessing Booking.com via the Get points button on the Virgin Red app or website and completing your transaction within one browsing session. If you go directly to Booking.com you will not earn points.
I can’t find an end date for stays in the Terms and Conditions, so this may mean it is for any future booking.
For anybody booking a getaway in the UK, Virgin Red members can boost their points balance further by booking train travel with Virgin Trains Ticketing and earning three points for every £1 spent on any train journey in Great Britain.
Bonus Avios on Avis Rental Through British Airways
We wrote a couple of weeks ago about being able to earn bonus Avios if booking an Avis rental car through Aer Lingus. You can now get the same deal with a booking through British Airways.
To participate you must rent an Avis vehicle within the rental car group C or above for a minimum of 3 days. You will receive 9 Avios per £1 spent as opposed to the usual 5 Avios per £1. The car must be picked up by 28th February 2025 to qualify for the bonus, but they are excluding the Christmas period. So any car picked up between 16th December 2024 and 1st January 2025 won’t be in the bonus.
Like all of these smaller offers, they are great if you intend on booking with Avis anyway but it’s not worth going out of your way to hire a car for the sake of it. The overall spend on cars is relatively low and the uplift of 4 Avios per £1 spent isn’t huge.
Get a Luxury Virgin Wines Advent Calendar Using Points
We love finding ways to use your points other than on flights, and Virgin seems to lead the way with this, well, they’re miles ahead of British Airways anyway.
They have a very fun, festive offering where you can buy a Wine Advent Calendar for 15,500 Virgin points which includes delivery.
They have three wine advent calendars, mixed wine, red wine, and white wine. They all retail for £89.99 and it comes to around £98 with delivery. So at 15,500 points, it works out at £0.63 per point.
They also have a Gin Advent Calendar available at a slightly higher price of £108 including delivery and this works out at £0.70 per point.
Eugene and I had rum and gin Advent Calendars last year, respectively, and it was definitely more entertaining than a tiny square of chocolate. It did take us a while to get through them though. The wines come in 24 bottles of 187 ml and 1 full size bottle for Christmas Day, so I feel we could get through that a lot easier.
