Hi
How do you solve the problem of booking a return trip when the return is not yet available to book say for example LHR to MIA on 25/11/26 returning on on 10/12/26
Because if I wait until the return flight s available to book the outbound flights are most likely not available
Thanks
Simplest thing is just to book them as separate one-way tickets, booking each one as soon as they become available. Reward Flight Saver (RFS) standardises the fees and taxes so there should generally be no difference in price between 2 singles vs one return. Same applies for so called open-jaw trips, where you want to fly out to one destination but return from another. The other option is to book the outbound as above, then call up to add the return sector onto the same ticket.
There is a lot of info in these methods, including the complexities of using a companion voucher, if you sniff around the internet. It is also mentioned on this site here: https://www.turningleftforless.com/when-do-airlines-release-their-reward-seats/
I’d book the tickets anyway with an early return date and then do a change when the new return date is available.
Avis redemptions allow you to change.
