New Lufthansa First class lounge
While some of their business class seats are still rather out of date, Lufthansa first class has always been on my bucket list to try as one of the better products for food and service with private transfers and a private terminal for First class passengers. Now Lufthansa has announced that Lufthansa First Class Lounge in Terminal 2 at Munich Airport is now open again after refurbishments.
A newly designed gastronomic area with an “à la carte” restaurant, a front cooking buffet and a newly designed bar offer everything you would expect from a first class lounge. Having seen the selection of different spirits on offer in their first class lounges recently, it is truly one of the most impressive selections in an airport.
The lounge also offers quiet areas, luxury washrooms, a well-equipped work areas with printers and photocopiers as well as extensive entertainment facilities with TV areas and a large selection of newspapers and magazines.
From now on, the lounge will be open daily from 05:00 to 22:00.
Lufthansa recently acknowledged that their premium products were very dated and have recently launched a new business class as well as leasing aircraft with better business class seats while they start refurbishing their current fleet in a major premium offensive. First Class guests can also look forward to a renovated First Class check-in area in Munich.

In the current summer timetable, the new Lufthansa A350-900 with Allegris first class will fly from Munich to Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Shanghai and Bengaluru.
Where to find the new Lufthansa Allegris business class and retrofit schedule

One of the reasons I have never flown Lufthansa long haul is that their business class seats have been outdated for a long time, with a 2-2-2 configuration. Now they are ramping up the routes with the new seats and plans for retrofitting the fleet, I’m very likely to give it a go. As well as the new seats they have also leased some aircraft that have more modern seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.
Lufthansa recently announced an update on where you can find the brand new Allegris business class seats during the winter schedule for this year.
For the 2025/2026 winter flight schedule, Lufthansa will offer additional long-haul flights with the new Allegris cabin in all classes: Economy, Premium Economy, Business, and First Class.
Starting from 26 October, the new aircraft, with state-of-the-art cabin interiors, will fly daily from Munich to New York (John F. Kennedy and New Jersey-Newark), Chicago, Miami, Shanghai, Cape Town and Tokyo. In addition, Bengaluru in India will be served three times a week. Notice that it says daily, so you will need to check the aircraft type to make sure it has the new seats. Ten A350-900s with the new cabin interior will be flying for Lufthansa in the winter schedule.
Lufthansa also plans to introduce Allegris in Frankfurt with the Boeing 787-9 and the retrofitting of its existing fleet, starting with the Boeing 747-8. So for those that miss flying the B747, this will be a great opportunity to get back in the skies on one in comfort. However, it is worth noting that they will not be retrofitting the upstairs business class seats on the B747, which is a great shame. I would guess this is due to the fuselage width upstairs not working with the new seats.

Emirates enhances first class
Emirates has always been on of the most luxurious first class products on board, if a bit blingy for some tastes. Certainly, my experience on the gamechanger aircraft was my best flight ever, and I have flown many different first class products. Unfortunately, they recently restricted who can redeem miles for first class, but luckily this does not affect all partner redemptions yet.
Interestingly, Emirates is the world’s largest operator of international First Class travel – offering 26,800 seats a week.
The latest enhancements onboard Emirates’ First Class include a newly designed keepsake menu which tells the story of Emirates’ wine selection and culinary inspirations. The menu reveals the heritage of rare bottles handpicked from renowned châteaux, with full tasting profiles and suggested pairings.
First Class customers can now enjoy unlimited caviar in elegant new Emirates engraved bowls, designed by Robert Welch to complement Emirates’ existing range. Emirates First Class cheeseboard has also been enhanced. It is presented on a rustic slate, with accompanying bowls and a wooden honey dipper, in addition to its array of artisan cheeses and chutneys. Emirates First Class cabin crew even provide white-gloved service.
On the ground, the First Class Check In area in Terminal 3, Dubai International (DXB) is also being refurbished to provide dedicated, personalised check-in services and a relaxing lounge design set to open in the coming weeks. This is good news as it felt like an area of weakness to me compared to Etihad for example, who greet you as you arrive by car and help with baggage into what feels like a hotel check-in area.
