Get a 10-20% Avios Bonus When You Convert Nectar Points to Avios
If you were planning to convert your Nectar points into Avios, now’s a very good time. Until 30th September 2025, you’ll receive a 10% to 20% bonus when you transfer from Nectar to Avios. This does not apply to Avios to Nectar conversions.
The offer includes:
- A 10% bonus when you convert Nectar Points to Avios manually
- A 20% bonus when you set up an auto-conversion
Worth It?
400 Nectar Points have £2 of shopping value. Alternatively, Nectar Points can be converted to Avios at a rate of 400:250 (0.8p per Avios). However, during the 20% offer, you will receive 300 Avios for every 400 Nectar Points. That puts the value per Avios at 0.67p, which is a notably better value!
If you opted for a manual conversion, you would receive 275 Avios for every 400 you convert, giving a value of 0.73p per Avios.
You’ll need to weigh up whether this is a better use for you than £2 on your Nectar card. This isn’t the best offer we’ve ever seen, but it’s certainly better than the standard conversion rate.
Things to Note:
- Transfers still must be in multiples of 400 Nectar points
- If you make multiple transfers during the offer period, you will receive the bonus on all of them. However, there is a limit of 80,000 Nectar Points per month.
- If you’re already auto-converting, the bonus will be applied automatically. Automatic conversions are capped at 40,000 Nectar points per quarter.
- Bonus Avios will be credited within 28 days of the promotion’s end date.

US ESTA Fee to Almost Double From 30th September – Apply Now
As of 30th September 2025, the US Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that the cost of an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) will almost double, from US$21 (£15.61) to US$40 (£29.30). This comes after Donald Trump’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ was announced in July.
Put simply, you are paying more not for a better service but because the US has decided to redirect funds. The good news is the travel promotion fee stays the same, but it is still almost a 90% increase overall.
The fee will be made up of three parts:
- $17 – A travel promotion charge (same as before)
- $10 – Operational fee (up from $4)
- $13 – Treasury fee (new)
The extra cost can really add up! For a family of four, waiting until October would mean paying an extra $76.
An ESTA is obligatory to enter the US without a visa. It is valid for two years or until your passport expires.
If you already hold a valid ESTA, there is no additional cost. However, if you have not yet applied, doing so before 30th September will save you $19 per person. It’s worth applying now to save if you have plans to travel within that timeframe.
If your ESTA is denied, you will be charged the $10 application fee (up from $4).
