Hilton announces new Tapestry hotel for London

Hilton has announced the signing of London Bridge Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, which will be the first Tapestry hotel in the capital. The 153-room hotel is expected to open in early 2028 following a more than £12 million transformation.

Located beside London Bridge Station, the hotel will be very handy for many landmarks including The Shard, Borough Market, Tower Bridge and the South Bank. The property will feature 153 guest rooms, including unique garden vault rooms, as well as a redesigned ground floor with premium food and beverage outlets.

Tapestry Collection by Hilton is a portfolio of more than 200 independent hotels, each with its own distinct character which do not have to abide by more stringent Hilton brand rules like most of the other Hilton brands have to. This allows the hotels to keep their own style and makes them less corporate.

The London signing reflects the brand’s continued growth across the UK and Ireland and follows recent signings in Plymouth and Cork.

The sale runs until 18th September 2026, with stays bookable through 31st December 2027, so there is plenty of time to fit in a trip.

The hotel group is an established all-inclusive brand, Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts has high-quality resorts across Spain, the Caribbean and Mexico. The brand is now part of Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, Hyatt’s portfolio of all-inclusive resort brands.

The Happiness Sale is available directly via bahia-principe.com and via participating travel agents.

The promotion includes properties from Bahia Principe Escape and Bahia Principe Explore, the company’s two sub-brands designed to cater to different travel styles.

  • Escape features adults-only hotels focused on wellness, gastronomy, and entertainment
  • Explore encompasses resorts designed for families and groups looking to share experiences in environments that encourage connection, imagination, and fun.

“We are proud to launch another edition of the Happiness Sale, our most iconic promotional campaign and one of the most anticipated by our guests. The end of Global Airways?

Global Airlines

I’ll admit I was pretty sceptical that Global Airways would succeed when I heard of the launch. Starting an airline is extremely difficult, and choosing aircraft like the A380, which are notoriously expensive to run and have a large capacity to fill to break even, did not sound like a great choice. Since the “launch” of some charter flights in May 2025 (run by Hi-Fly, as they did not have an operator’s license), it has been very quiet, and their aircraft was put into long-term storage at Tarbes, which did not bode well. Founder James Asquith more recently announced they were shifting the strategy from transatlantic routes to flying to the Maldives and stated they would fly there before the end of 2026. However, the aircraft requires a massive, incredibly expensive “heavy maintenance” check that isn’t expected to finish until the end of 2026. This would take place in Dresden, but as yet the aircraft has not left storage.

Several high-profile resignations have followed, including Tom Stockley, a director and the founder of OnlyFans, who was brought on to steer the airline toward commercial certification, and Richard Stephenson, who has advertised on LinkedIn that he is open to work.

The final nail in the coffin is yet another wind-up petition being filed. A US-based creditor represented by aviation finance law firm Vedder Price filed a formal compulsory winding-up petition against Global Airlines Ltd in the High Court of Justice.

A winding-up petition is a serious legal mechanism where creditors ask the court to forcibly liquidate a company to recover unpaid debts.

This marks the third time in roughly a year that creditors have dragged Global Airlines to court over unpaid money (previous petitions in August 2025 and March 2026 were only narrowly resolved and withdrawn). High Court hearings regarding the latest petition continued through late 2026.
