Air France Soft Drinks Now Almost Fully French in La Première and Business

Air France has changed its onboard drink selection in La Première and Business on medium-haul and long-haul flights, as well as in its lounges, replacing almost all non-French soft drinks with French alternatives.

Schweppes Tonic, Sprite and Fuze Tea have been removed. In La Première, they’ve been replaced by a selection of Maison Patrick Font beverages, including fruit juices, iced tea and lemonade. In Business Class, there is a new range of drinks from French brands such as Lorina, Hysope and Vitamont.

The only exception to this is Coca-Cola, a global brand which just can’t be replaced. Air France has already said it’s an extremely popular drink, especially with international customers. It will be available in Original and Zero Sugar.

British Airways already champions British brands such as BrewDog beers and English sparkling wines on selected flights, but Air France’s move to remove almost all non-French brands is a step further.

France is famous for its food and drink, and it’s something many passengers already associate with flying Air France. They were already committed to French produce, with menus featuring some of France’s best producers and designed by Michelin-starred French chefs, not to mention a wine list dedicated exclusively to French producers.

BA seem to be trying to fly the British product flag too, but I’m not sure where my prawns served on grits fitted in with this on a flight from Seattle on Thursday.
