OFFERS: What are the best deals in the British Airways Business Class Sale?

  • 02/03/2024
  • Michele

Yesterday, we looked at the offerings of British Airways Holidays in the sale. Today I will have a proper look at what the business and first class flight only deals looks like. The business class sale is on until 19 March 2024. You can find the sale page here.

There were a few negative comments yesterday about the sale. Yes, there are no amazing bargains. But these fares are pretty standard sale fares for BA post Covid from the UK now and do represent a saving over the normal even more expensive fares. If you are prepared to be flexible, there are often some better indirect fares with SAS to the US, but if you want to fly direct, these are the prices now, like it or not. As an example, I’ve been looking for flights to Vegas for a while and the price was over £2600 even five months in advance. In the sale, it is £2165, still expensive but an improvement.

If you want cheap fares, flying from Dublin can save a substantial amount of money flying BA/AA/Aer Lingus. For example, flights to Los Angeles start from £1569 return in business class on an advance purchase. You can compare prices here.

In terms of the sale prices, some of the Caribbean flights are the best bargains as they have often been well over £2200 on average before. Many of the Indian flights are well overprcied at around £2500 so I have not included them in the list. There are some reasonable Club Europe fares if you are flexible on dates. If you want a cheap Club Europe trip for tier points, Dublin is one of the cheapest options for standard tier points or for 160 TPs, Tirana or Bucharest are currently cheapest.

I would always look at adding on a hotel or car to see what difference it makes, as it can work out cheaper. If you are not bothered about the double tier points, you can just add one night at a hotel to get the benefits of not paying for your flight straight away and paying a low deposit instead. I often do this for trips a long way off. Even an airport hotel works for this purpose. It also means if you had to cancel you will only lose a deposit until the balance is due.

Sofia was £200 in the sale earlier this year. A further 1/3rd off this ‘sale’ price.

Interesting data point would be which 160TP destinations work out best value when including a hotel/car for five nights.

Thanks Richard. I will have a look at that in a future article.

I flew my wife and 2 kids to Vegas over Valentines day for £3291.64, which is the price of one person in the sale. BA should rename themselves to BS.

Sale prices vary a lot as do the price of flights obviously. Usually the better sales are around new Year and Black Friday. BA are offering a £500 saving on the prices pre-sale.

@british_airways has a fun new way to mix a martin @british_airways has a fun new way to mix a martini table side in their Concorde Room at Heathrow T5. Those flying in First class or holding Gold Guest List or Premier status can access the exclusive lounge. The machine precision weighs each ingredient in a special “Turbine” martini recipe from top class mixologist @mrlyan Although the recipe calls for Aviation Gin you can substitute it for another gin or vodka. The cleverly designed mixer then mixes it to precision. Inside it looks just like a jet engine. You can finish with a twist of lemon or olives.
