SAS European Business Class to Return in October

SAS European Business Class to Return in October

SAS has announced that European Business will return on 1st October 2025. Business Class will be offered on all international European flights, including those within Scandinavia, with sales beginning on 6th May.

SAS reported that European Business Class is returning due to increased demand for premium service. The new offering is set to be a ‘clear and recognised’ Business Class product. The change is also expected to simplify connections and offer a cohesive experience.

The new Business Class will include:

  • A dedicated cabin

  • Blocked middle seats

  • Priority check-in, boarding and baggage

  • Access to more lounges

  • An improved dining experience

The food offering will cut food waste, boost local sourcing and replace plastic with compostable materials. Reusable porcelain tableware will now be used.

SAS is aligning itself with other short-haul Business Class products, making it more competitive on European routes. It’s much better than the current SAS Plus offers (no blocked middle seat, no separate bathroom, and free economy food and drinks instead of an exclusive service). This news comes after SAS recently became the newest SkyTeam alliance member.

Get 30% back at WorldHotels with American Express

American Express is offering 30% back up to £100 at WorldHotels worldwide. That’s essentially £100 off a £333 stay.

WorldHotels is a group of luxury independent properties. If you like boutique stays over big-name chains, this is one for you!

To see whether you’ve been targeted for this offer, go to the ‘Offers’ section on the American Express app. You must save the offer to be eligible. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll have until 15th October to benefit.

A few London hotels are participating in the offer, including The Washington Mayfair Hotel, The Crown, Royal Garden Hotel, and the Courthouse Hotels in Shoreditch and Great Marlborough Street. View the list of all participating hotels here.

Things to Note

  • The 2.99% non-sterling transaction fee does not count.
  • Cumulative spend is fine. You will get 30% back on each transaction until you reach the £100 cap.
  • You will be awarded AMEX statement credit within 30 days.
  • Availability is limited to the first 40,000 cardholders to save the offer – act fast!

Istanbul iGA Airport Now Has a Triple Runway System!

Istanbul iGA Airport just made aviation history. It’s now the first airport in Europe to operate Triple Independent Runway Operations. The milestone was marked in true style with a simultaneous takeoff by three Turkish Airlines aircraft from three parallel runways.

Istanbul is one of the fastest-growing hubs in Europe, and it now has the infrastructure to reflect it.

Speaking at the launch event, Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, said:

“We are proud as Türkiye is the only country to implement this system in Europe. Now, Istanbul Airport has risen to the top tier of global aviation—not only with its traffic volume but also in terms of operational capacity and technical capability. With this system, air traffic flow will accelerate, the dynamic capacity of our airport will significantly increase, and we will offer our passengers faster and safer service. When Istanbul’s strategic location which bridges continents, is combined with this new capability, our airport will take on an even more critical role in global aviation logistics.”

This new system increases the airport’s hourly aircraft movement capacity from 120 to 148. This means shorter taxi times, fewer delays, and a better chance that your flight departs on time. Turkish Airlines already operates over 1,000 daily flights, and there is hope that this will expand even more with the new operational capability.

Has no one else noticed that Turkey isn’t in Europe?

Part of it is in Europe, including the airport referenced.

5% of Turkey is in Europe (the part west of the Bosphorus) and Istanbul (IST) airport is definitely in Europe.

Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen (SAW) is 100% in Asia.

Personally, I won’t be travelling to or through Turkey given Erdogan’s imprisonment of his main rival and his arrest of those protesting it.

I have not flown through IST new airport but the delays between leaving the terminal and takeoff at the old one were horrendous.

I was taken by surprise by @queenelizabetholympicp I was taken by surprise by @queenelizabetholympicpark and Stratford. I went to review the @hyattlondonstratford Regency hotel but was surprised at how easy it was to get there and get around London so easily. There’s so much on the doorstep from the Westfield shopping centre to the @londonaquaticcentre where Tom Daley trains. There’s a huge restaurant scene here with every sort of cuisine you can think of. I loved all the outdoor terraces to. I ate at Alpine restaurant @haugenldn and was impressed with the range of dishes from wild mushroom rosti to fondue. There’s also a great roof terrace.
