New Mandarin Oriental London

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is expanding its presence in London with the opening of Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London this winter. The new property will be on Hanover Square and will be an additional property to the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. The new hotel is within walking distance of London’s fashion houses on Bond Street and the boutiques of Saville Row, as well as auction houses and art galleries.

The property comprises 50 guestrooms and 78 private residences, and will house the first namesake Akira Back restaurant in the UK from Michelin Star Chef Akira Back, as well as his ‘ABar Lounge’ concept.  There will also be an urban spa, focussed on renewal and recalibration.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, will provide the perfect antidote to the fast pace of London life for hotel guests, residents and the local community, offering sublime serenity in the heart of Mayfair. The overall spa features an indoor 25-metre swimming pool, sauna, vitality pool, relaxation room and a myriad of bespoke wellness treatments that abound in a Mandarin Oriental spa.

Don’t forget if you book through our partners GTC, you get these extra benefits on Mandarin Oriental stays:

  • Upgrade based on availability at time of check-in
  • Continental breakfast for 2 daily

Interesting new route from London City

Deauville Beach

Although this is not an airline you can earn or redeem miles on, if you fancy a trip with a difference or perhaps are a bot of an aviation geek, this new route from London City could be for you.

From July 1st 2022, L’Odyssey, a Swiss airline, will operate a twice-weekly service to the Normandy seaside town of Deauville from London City.

The flight will depart LCY at 13.40 every Friday, with the return flight landing at 13.20 every Sunday – perfect for a weekend stay.

This will be the only direct flight to Deauville from the UK.

Deauville is a hugely popular domestic vacation spot in France and the new flight provides an opportunity for Londoners to enjoy the Côte Fleurie, the Casino Barrière Deauville, grade 1 horseracing at La Touques, and its proximity to the sites of the historic WW2 landings.

L’Odyssey will operate a full-service flight on a SAAB 340B turboprop, which has been reconfigured to offer 27 passengers a comfortable 1 hour 5 minutes on board. Passengers will receive up to a 30 kg baggage allowance as well as an inflight snack.

Prices however are pretty high for an hour’s flight at around £730  return!

For more information on L’Odyssey and to book, please visit www.lodyssey.ch

More Six Senses hotels redeemable on IHG

Six Senses Ibiza

Six Senses hotels are fabulous but super pricey, so having them as an addition to IHG’s One Rewards loyalty scheme is definitely very welcome. However, it’s slightly complicated as not all Six Senses hotels are part of the scheme. For example, the Six Senses Douro Valley in Portugal is not part of the scheme.  Originally six hotels joined IHG in 2021. These were:

  • Six Senses Yao Noi, Thailand.
  • Six Senses Laamu, Maldives.
  • Six Senses Botanique, Brazil.
  • Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam.
  • Six Senses Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia.
  • Six Senses Fiji.

Now another five have been added making the choices a bit more broad:

  • Six Senses Zil Pasyon, Seychelles.
  • Six Senses Kaplankaya, Turkey.
  • Six Senses Ibiza, Spain.
  • Six Senses Shaharut, Israel.
  • Six Senses Residences Courchevel, France
  • Six Senses Kanuhura, Maldives (opening in 2022).

You can search for award stays as usual on IHG.com and prices are dynamic. You can expect prices to start from around 120,000 points per night up to over 1 million points depending on the resort.
