There are a significant number of promotions around for Avios at the moment, with both BA and Finnair running separate bonuses and a few more that I will talk about today. It can be tempting to think that it is a good idea to top up while the offers are on. However, given that many airlines have converted to dynamic pricing, I’d be surprised if BA doesn’t go there at some point. As far back as Alex Cruz’s time as CEO, it has been stated as a goal for BA and probably IAG as a whole. It had certainly been rumoured to happen early this year, but then apparently there was a change of heart (very wisely in my opinion). So, really, no one knows when and if this could happen, which could make buying Avios without a specific purpose a little risky.
If you have a redemption in mind and will book fairly soon, then it is probably worth the risk. If not, you need to have a think about what you would do if there was a sudden devaluation and you were left with a lot of Avios that would not cover what you would want to do with them.
So with that in mind, let’s have a look at today’s offers and news.

Marriott Bonvoy partners with Lufthansa’s Miles & More
If you have been wondering where to take your loyalty after BA’s The Club, the latest loyalty partnership may give you some inspiration.
Marriott Bonvoy has announced a partnership with Miles & More, the loyalty programme of the Lufthansa Group, designed to enhance travel experiences, reward loyalty, and provide more ways for members of both programmes to earn and redeem rewards through travel.
Starting today, Marriott Bonvoy members who link their Miles & More accounts online will be able to earn Miles & More Points towards frequent flyer status on qualified stays at participating hotels. Furthermore, Miles & More members with Senator status and HON Circle Members automatically receive complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status and hotel benefits without any additional qualifications. You can also get free Marriott Gold status with the Amex Platinum, but this is a good perk for free. Gold gives you a 2 pm check-out and room upgrades alongside other perks.
Marriott Bonvoy members can earn 40 Miles & More Points per qualified stay, up to a maximum of 120 Points per year. These bonus Points are awarded in addition to the regular Marriott Bonvoy points or Miles & More Miles earned from each stay. This will significantly accelerate your progress toward higher Miles & More status tiers. If you stay at a lot of Marriott hotels, this could be an interesting tool to gain status with Lufthansa and Star Alliance.
“Marriott Bonvoy and Miles & More each represent excellence in their respective spheres — hospitality and aviation. This partnership is a fantastic alignment of two trusted names, united by a shared commitment to enriching the travel experience. Together, we are unlocking distinctive benefits for our members, offering them greater flexibility, recognition, and reward,” said Satya Anand, President, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International.
“Our groundbreaking partnership with Marriott Bonvoy opens up an entirely new world of experiences for our customers,” said Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer, Lufthansa Group. “This milestone marks an important step in our comprehensive loyalty strategy, which focuses on exclusive travel and lifestyle benefits. By offering our members privileged access to one of the world’s leading hotel loyalty programs, we are creating a truly unique value proposition—strengthening customer loyalty for both partners.”
Qatar Avios conversion bonus
Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club is offering a bonus when you transfer hotel points into Avios. This can be a handy way to use up a small amount of points if you don’t think you will be able to redeem them.
If you convert your reward points with Shangri-La Circle and World of Hyatt into Avios by 15 October 2025 you get a staggered bonus:
- Collect 20% bonus Avios* on converting up to 9,999 Avios
- Collect 30% bonus Avios* on converting between 10,000 and 49,999 Avios
- Collect 40% bonus Avios* on converting 50,000 or more Avios
There are a lot of other partners with the bonus but they are not relevant for the UK. Bonus Avios earned as part of this campaign will be credited to a Member’s Privilege Club account by 30 November 2025
You can find the offer page here.
Nectar Avios bonus
The standard conversion rate of Nectar points to British Airways Avios is 400 to 250. This is actually a decent deal without the bonus if you plan to spend the Avios on premium or expensive flights. So it is definitely worth considering whether to convert some now to get the new bonus of 20%. However, earlier this Spring, we did see a 25% bonus, so there is a chance that could come back in the future.
To take advantage of the bonus you need to link your Nectar and British Airways Club accounts and convert at least 400 points.
There are two levels of bonus:
- Signing up for Auto-convert = 20% bonus
- Manual conversion = a 10% bonus
To convert Nectar points to Avios you need to:
- Link your Nectar and British Airways Club accounts
- Convert a minimum of 400 Nectar points into Avios by 30/09/2025
- Every manual conversion will get 10% bonus Avios and every auto-conversion will get 20% bonus Avios.
- The good news is that your Nectar points are transferred instantly when converting Nectar points into Avios.
