Marriott bonus nights promo finally here – and it’s disappointing!
Normally, every year, Marriott runs a really good promotion from February to April, which gives you double nights for every stay. This makes getting status much more achievable. Sadly, this year the promotion is nowhere near as good. I suspect this is because they have created far too many status holders due to all the credit cards that give you elite night credits. Personally, it would seem much better to be rewarding the people actually paying cash to stay in your hotels, rather than credit card holders. The only good news is that it is available until 10 May, normally it has a shorter window for stays.

Here are the details:
Earn 2,500 Bonus Points per Stay + 1 Bonus Elite Night per Brand until 10 May
- Register here by 26 April and before you stay
- Earnon stays from 25 February to 10 May
- Earn 2,500 bonus Points on each paid stay, which will be posted within 10 days.
- Earn one bonus Elite Night Credit for each different eligible hotel brand at which you stay during the promotion earning period. These will be posted up to 6 weeks after the Promotion has ended.
- Only valid for stays booked through Marriott Channels and other Qualifying Channels such as the Marriott Stars and Luminous travel agent programs.
- Eligible paid stays at Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy are eligible for promotional credit. For eligible paid stays at Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, these bonus Points and bonus Elite Night Credit will be posted up to 6 weeks after the promotion earning period ends.
- Award redemption stays, including Cash + Points Awards, Free Night Awards, or a Points redemption stay, are not eligible for the promotion.
- Stays at BVLGARI, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Marriott Executive Apartments®, and owner-occupied weeks at Marriott Vacation Club®, Grand Residences by Marriott®, Marriott Grand Residence Club, Sheraton Vacation Club, Westin Vacation Club, The Ritz-Carlton Club, The St. Regis Residence Club, and The Luxury Collection Residence Club, are not eligible for bonus Points or bonus Elite Night Credits for this promotion.
- Only one room at one property per stay is counted toward a member’s eligible paid stays for the promotion.
If you had been banking on this promo to achieve status, I would suggest looking at either the Marriott Bonvoy American Express card, which comes with 15 elite night credits per year, or the Marriott Bonvoy debit card, which comes with either 10 or 15 nights status.
Wizzair’s pseudo-business class, Wizz Class, expands further
Wizz Air recently started offering a premium option as a trial on some of its flights. Now that is being rolled out further. For the trial period, WIZZ Class was available on selected flights to and from Budapest, Bucharest Otopeni, London Luton, London Gatwick, Rome Fiumicino, and Warsaw. The trial has been hailed as a success by the airline so they will now roll this out across all their routes.
WIZZ Class is a premium add-on available only during booking. After that point, you can’t add it or upgrade. Once you select your flight and bundle, you can upgrade to WIZZ Class when selecting your seats. It’s a good idea, but the way you book it isn’t well thought out due to the number of steps to add it. I guess it does follow the trend of long airlines that have the larger premium seats where you pay for those as a seat selection, even though it’s a different seat.
This upgrade gives you an aisle or window extra-legroom seat in the first row with the middle seat blocked next to you. On top of that, you will also get Priority boarding with a 10kg trolley bag included, as well as a complimentary snack and a non-alcoholic drink served onboard.
It will be interesting to see if EasyJet responds to this in any way. Given that people are moving away from booking BA’s Club Europe due to ongoing cuts to meal services and new Club earnings, it would seem a no-brainer to consider how you could entice this audience away from BA. You can already book a spare seat next to yourself on EasyJet. I think if they could make this a simpler process and throw in a few extras as a package, such as those you get with EasyJet Plus, like Speedy Boarding and Fast Track security, they would be on to a winner.

Getting a strange error on the Marriott offer
Sorry, this promotion is not available
This could be because:
You are not eligible for it
It has expired
