Companion Voucher Reward Searches Now Much Easier on Avios.com

Avios.com has introduced a useful update to its Reward Flight search tool that should make it easier if you’re using an American Express Companion Voucher.

A new ‘I have a Companion Voucher’ option can now be selected before searching, then you can see reward flight pricing with a voucher applied, rather than waiting until you reach the booking stage. You can also select the voucher type during your search.

Perhaps the most useful improvement is for Premium Plus voucher holders. This voucher gives you extra Club World reward availability (subject to availability) that isn’t visible in a standard reward search. Avios.com will now automatically display this extra availability in the month-by-month calendar, so it’s easier to spot seats that would otherwise appear unavailable.

You don’t need to have a Companion Voucher to use the feature. You can select the voucher option to see what pricing would look like if you earned one in the future, whether you’re working towards meeting the minimum spend or you’re wondering whether a BA AMEX is worth it.

The reward calendar has also had some changes made. You can now see a month’s availability at a glance for both the outbound and return flight, filter results by cabin, and see how many reward seats are available on each date.

Further improvements are planned, including the ability to visualise reward availability on connecting itineraries.

This is a very welcome improvement and will make searching for reward flights much easier.

Marriott Bonvoy Debit Card Referral Bonus More Than Doubled for a Limited Time

Currensea has more than doubled the referral bonus on its Marriott Bonvoy Debit Card. You and the friend you refer will now each receive 5,000 Marriott Bonvoy points instead of 2,000 until 4 PM on 15th September 2026.

If you were already thinking about getting one of the cards, it is definitely worth finding someone who can refer you rather than applying directly.

To be eligible, you need to apply for either the Marriott Bonvoy Debit Card or Marriott Bonvoy Premium Debit Card using a referral link or code, be approved and then make your first qualifying purchase.

Once that has gone through, both you and the person who referred you should receive 5,000 points within 14 days.

Both cards currently have increased welcome bonuses, including:

  • Marriott Bonvoy Debit Card – £55 – 15,000 Marriott Bonvoy points when you spend £1,000 in foreign currency within the first 12 months.
  • Marriott Bonvoy Premium Debit Card – £175 – 40,000 points when you spend £3,000 in foreign currency within the first 12 months.

That means you could earn 45,000 points by applying for the Premium card with the welcome bonus plus the referral bonus, not to mention the points earned from your spend.

The cards also come with a range of benefits, including automatic Marriott Bonvoy elite status, Elite Night Credits, and, on the Premium card, the opportunity to earn a Free Night Award each anniversary year when you meet the foreign currency spending threshold.

This is a great offer with no large spending requirement to receive the bonus, just a qualifying purchase. There is also currently no limit to the number of people an existing cardholder can refer, so this could add up quite nicely if you know several people who are considering the card.

There are a couple of things to be aware of. You won’t qualify if you currently hold, or have previously held, either Marriott Bonvoy debit card, and you need to keep the new account open for at least 90 days. If your first purchase is later refunded or reversed, the referral points can be taken back.

Just remember that the spending target has to be in foreign currency. It doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be abroad, as online purchases charged in a currency other than GBP can also count.

To refer a friend, go to the MarriottDebit app and tap the 5,000 Points icon in the top-right corner.

Win 100,000 Avios with Avis

Avis is giving five British Airways Club members the chance to win 100,000 Avios each when they book an eligible rental through Avios.com by 25th August, provided the rental is completed by 16th November 2026.

You’ll be entered into the draw automatically, so there’s no need to register. Your rental needs to be at least 48 hours, though each qualifying rental will give you a separate entry.

As well as the chance to win, you’ll also earn 5 Avios per £1 when you click through Avios.com, including on upgrades and extras. British Airways Club members also receive a free additional driver.

If you’re new to Avis Preferred, you’ll also earn 1,000 bonus Avios after your first qualifying rental, alongside benefits such as priority service and the opportunity for upgrades.

100,000 Avios is enough for some fantastic redemptions. Depending on availability and where you’re travelling, it could get you 3-6 one-way Club Europe Reward Flights, an off-peak Club World return to a range of destinations such as Toronto, New York or Lagos, or a one-way flight in First with some Avios left over to destinations such as Atlanta, Barbados, Johannesburg or Delhi.

If you were planning a rental over the next few months, Avis is well worth considering. Just make sure you click via Avios.com. The winners will be drawn by 25th November, and if you win, you’ll be contacted by 2nd December, and Avios will be credited within 30 days.
