British Airways Avios reward seat availability for 2024 including Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur

  • 17/03/2024
  • Michele

With the news last week that British Airways will be reinstating its London to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok routes after a four-year hiatus, we’ve taken a look at some of the best reward seat availability showing on the Reward Flight Finder Search Calendar right now for the coming year.

Spending Avios can sometimes be tricky.  We now regularly bring you a look every fortnight at what routes have the best Avios availability, thanks to Reward Flight Finder.

If there is a particular focus you would like in an article for Avios, let us know in the comments below.

In this post:

  • What is Reward Flight Finder?
    • London – Algiers, Algeria

London – Algiers, Algeria

Highlighted as an up and coming holiday hotspot, you’ll find a solid availability of Economy and Business Class reward seats across the year, into 2025. It’s a little patchier in July and August but there’s still plenty to go at.

It’s worth bearing in mind that most people will need a visa to visit Algeria which can take up to a month to be issued.

London – Bangkok

Bangkok

There was a mad rush when BA announced this route was back last week. However, there are still a few dates in November and December with 2 Business Class seats to book. March 2025 availability will also begin to show soon too, so if Bangkok is on your bucket list start setting your RFF Alerts.

You can find our Bangkok hotel reviews here.

London – Bordeaux, France

Vineyards of Saint Emilion, Bordeaux Wineyards in France in a sunny day

A firm family favourite, as well as perfect for those who want to explore the vineyards, availability is slightly lesser during school holidays (particularly April and August), but for the remainder of 2024/25, there’s excellent availability in Economy and Business Class.

London – Dubai

Aerial View Of Palm Island In Dubai

Now is a great time to get your reward seats in the bag. If you find Dubai too glitzy and busy, then it’s worth considering Abu Dhabi or Ras Al Khaimah, which are both easily reachable from Dubai airport. I’ve just visited Ras Al Khaimah again and will be writing reviews of the fully refurbished Waldorf Astoria and the new Anantara, which has overwater bungalows.

There are spots throughout June, July and August with up to 4 Business Class seats. If you’re looking to book for the cooler weather months, January and February 2025 have some top class seats, there are loads of days with between 4 and 6 Business Class seats. There are also a few dates with 2 First Class seats up for grabs.

This route is a 7 hour flight, so you might just be willing to opt for Premium Economy. In that case, there are loads of days from June 2024 right through to next year with up to 4 Premium Economy seats to book.

London – Georgetown, Cayman Islands

Cayman Islands

There’s some fabulous availability for 2024 showing at the moment. June and July have dates with 2 or 3 Business Class seats, August, September and October have quite a lot of dates showing between 4 and 6 Business Class seats. February 2025 is another great month to book – lots of dates have 4 Business Class seats.

London – Hong Kong

Hong Kong harbour with junk boat

For a number of years, Hong Kong has been one of the most popular reward seat destinations for Avios collectors. Those who have it on their travel list will know how hard it can be to find your ideal seats (we speak from personal experience too)!

RFF always recommends that members set up Alerts for this route, but quite surprisingly, at the moment, there are a few good patches of availability over the coming year. Between May and mid-June you’ll find a fair few dates with 3 or 4 Business Class seats. February 2025 also has a number of dates with up to 3 Business Class seats to book.

London – Johannesburg

south africa

This route was HUGELY popular with Avios collectors last year. Right now, if you’ve been waiting for good availability on this route, you’re in luck! Looking at the RFF Search Calendar, there’s a bit of an uneven mix of outbound vs inbound between April and December (although there are lots of Business and First Class seats in those months for one leg of your trip), so you might want to book one journey and set Alerts for the other.

As of January 2025 things get a lot more consistent. Both January and February have quite a lot of dates with up to 6 Business Class seats both outbound and inbound. There’s also a few dates across those months with First Class availability – up to 3 available seats.

If you are struggling to find available seats to Cape Town, Johannesburg is a good alternative with multiple flights a day between the two cities.

London – Kingston, Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica

One of the most popular fly-and-flop reward seat routes, you typically need to set RFF Alerts well in advance to stand any chance of getting seats. At the moment, however, there’s a pretty impressive number of seats to book with Avios. June has a few dates with up to 4 Business Class seats available. Between July and November, you’ll also find quite a lot of dates with between 3 and 5 Business Class seats.

London – Kuala Lumpur

Cityscape image of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during sunset.

Even though it’s only just been announced as a reinstatement for BA’s winter roster, there’s still some solid availability to get your hands on. The last couple of weeks in November have quite a few days with 2 to 4 Business Class seats.  January 2025 has a few dates with 2 Business Class seats to book, and some dates in February 2025 even have 4 Business Class seats.

From Kuala Lumpur, there are plenty of flights a day to the island of Langkawi, one of my favourite destinations. It has a large range of luxury beach hotels. Our reviews are here to give you some inspiration.

London – Rome

Trevi Fountain, Rome

Economy and Business Class availability is jam-packed from May 2024, right up to February 2025. Including school holidays! Most dates have 6 seats in each cabin class.

London – Tenerife

Ritz-Carlton Abama Tenerife offer discount
Ritz-Carlton Abama Tenerife

There’s an abundance of Economy and Business Class availability during Autumn and Winter 2024 right now. Most dates have 6 seats in each cabin class.

If you are looking for a luxury hotel to go with your flights, check out my review of the Ritz Carlton Abama.

    Hi,
I know BA said the LGW – BKK route was a winter one but have they announced when it will cease or do you think they will extend it depending on demand?

There’s nothing specific mentioned but since it starts right at the start of the winter season and I can see flights in February, I’d assume it will finish at the end of winter timetables at the end of March. It’s always a possibility they will extend it but I’d not expect a decision until late summer/early autumn.
