NEWS & OFFERS: IHG Pick Your Points Promotion, Expedia’s up to 25% Off Sale & Virgin Voyages Joins Virgin Red

IHG One Rewards “Pick Your Points” Summer Promotion

IHG One Rewards has launched its latest summer offer, the “Pick Your Points” promotion, valid for stays between 20th May and 31st August 2025. Whether you’re planning a city break, a business trip, or a summer getaway, this could be an easy way to top up your points balance.

IHG One Rewards members can choose between two options:

  • Earn 2,000 bonus points for every 2 nights (1,000 points per night)

  • Earn 8,000 bonus points for every 4 nights (2,000 points per night)

Registration is now open via the IHG promotions page, and you must register before your first eligible stay to qualify. Importantly, you can only register for one of the two offers, once selected, your choice is locked in for the duration of the promotion.

Which option should you choose?

For most travellers, the 8,000 points for every 4 nights offer will be the better deal, as it offers double the points per night. However, if you’re only planning a short stay of 2 or 3 nights, the 2,000-point offer might make more sense.

To maximise your return:

  • Select the 8,000-point option if you’ll stay at least 4 paid nights during the promotion period.

  • Choose the 2,000-point offer only if you’re certain you won’t reach 4 nights.

Either way, it’s a useful bonus, especially if you have business or leisure travel already planned across the summer months.

Important terms to note

Only paid stays booked directly with IHG qualify for this promotion. Bookings made via third-party websites such as Booking.com or Expedia will not count. Additionally, Reward Nights and Points + Cash stays are not eligible for earning bonus points under this offer.

Each qualifying night must cost at least $30 (or local currency equivalent) to be eligible. It’s also worth noting that only one room per night counts, even if you’ve booked multiple rooms under your name.

Finally, bonus points earned through this promotion do not contribute towards elite status within IHG One Rewards.

This is a fairly typical seasonal promotion from IHG, nothing groundbreaking, but still a nice incentive for loyal members. The good news is that it runs throughout the entire summer, giving plenty of time to make the most of it.

If you’ve got IHG stays coming up, it’s worth registering now just in case. And don’t forget to weigh your likely stay count before choosing which bonus path to take.

Expedia’s Family Getaway Sale: Save 25% or More

If you’re planning a summer escape with the family, Expedia’s latest promotion might help stretch your holiday budget a little further. The Family Getaway Sale offers 25% off or more on select hotels for members who book by 26th May 2025.

You have to be a member of its One Key™ loyalty programme or use the Expedia app. The sale applies to travel up to 30th September 2025, so it covers everything from late spring breaks to summer holidays.

The discount applies to a wide selection of family-friendly properties, though availability is limited and blackout dates may apply. Find the best deals here.

Things to keep in mind

To access the savings, you’ll need to be logged in as a One Key™ member or use the Expedia app. While the headline rate is 25% or more, actual discounts vary depending on your destination, travel dates, and length of stay. Discounts are available only on select hotels and packages, so it’s worth comparing a few different properties and dates to find the best deals.

Even if you’re not usually an Expedia user, it might be worth downloading the app and signing up for One Key™ just to access this sale. With travel prices rising across the board this summer, a 25% saving on accommodation can make a noticeable difference, especially for family-sized bookings.

Virgin Voyages Joins Virgin Red

Virgin Voyages Valiant Lady

Virgin Red members now have even more ways to earn and spend points, with Virgin Voyages becoming the latest addition to the growing Virgin travel rewards programme. Joining Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Hotels, and most recently Virgin Active, the move brings even more ways to earn and spend Virgin Red Points.

Members can now use points to book Virgin Voyages cruises to sun-soaked destinations in the Caribbean and Europe, or earn 100 Virgin Points per sailor per night when booking with cash.

Reward sailings start from:

  • 305,000 points for a 4-night Fire and Sunset Soirées

  • 375,000 points for a 5-night Dominican Daze

  • 515,000 points for a 7-night European itinerary from Portsmouth

With Virgin Hotels and Virgin Active also now part of Virgin Red, members can earn and spend across a broad range of travel and lifestyle experiences. Virgin is increasingly becoming one of the more desirable loyalty schemes available because of the wide range of uses for points, something that many loyal British Airways customers have felt Avios have neglected for a long time.

I was taken by surprise by @queenelizabetholympicp I was taken by surprise by @queenelizabetholympicpark and Stratford. I went to review the @hyattlondonstratford Regency hotel but was surprised at how easy it was to get there and get around London so easily. There’s so much on the doorstep from the Westfield shopping centre to the @londonaquaticcentre where Tom Daley trains. There’s a huge restaurant scene here with every sort of cuisine you can think of. I loved all the outdoor terraces to. I ate at Alpine restaurant @haugenldn and was impressed with the range of dishes from wild mushroom rosti to fondue. There’s also a great roof terrace. @british_airways has a fun new way to mix a martin @british_airways has a fun new way to mix a martini table side in their Concorde Room at Heathrow T5. Those flying in First class or holding Gold Guest List or Premier status can access the exclusive lounge. The machine precision weighs each ingredient in a special “Turbine” martini recipe from top class mixologist @mrlyan Although the recipe calls for Aviation Gin you can substitute it for another gin or vodka. The cleverly designed mixer then mixes it to precision. Inside it looks just like a jet engine. You can finish with a twist of lemon or olives.
