I have always been a fan of Qatar’s QSuite which was the groundbreaking business class seat that spawned the current generation of airline business class seats with doors.
So when I got invited to the unveiling of the latest update of the QSuite I was wondering how they could really do much other than a few tweaks around the edges. While the seat does not look dramatically different to the old one, there are plenty of new features to get excited about.
I was also given the chance to interview Qatar’s chief commercial officer at the show, so stay tuned for the next article, which will have lots of information on what’s happening with Qatar’s future business class offerings and fleet.

So what’s new about the Next Gen QSuite?
Qsuite Next Gen has a number of new and enhanced features, including fully customizable Quad Suites, Companion Suites in window aisles, 4K OLED maneuverable in-flight entertainment (IFE) screens, along with increased space and privacy in each suite.
Size and layout
The layout will still be in a 1-2-1 configuration with a combination of front and back facing seats. The good news is that these seats are significantly larger both in the length and the width. For example, the double bed which you can form in the middle seats will be 9″ wider than the current one which is significant.
Quad and Companion suites
The Quad Suites, which are in the centre, have also been enhanced with increased space for dining together – as well as added privacy with taller, digitally controlled dividers. With larger lie-flat and double beds, the new Quad Suite will also offer the turn-down service with a new signature ‘Make My Bed’ feature with relaxing mood lighting.
Other new business class features
New Formula 1 PJs are on the way hopefully this year but they plan to stick with the Dipytique products as they have proved popular with customers. However, there will be a new amenity bag that comes with them.
There is a black marble finish on the suites, which gives it a luxurious feel, and there is extra storage in the form of pull-out drawers, which make retrieving your items simpler.
Finally, the tables are also substantially bigger. I thought they were plenty big enough already but now there will be more room if you want to watch something on your laptop while you eat.
Personalisation
Technology and entertainment
As you’d expect, Qatar will be using the latest technology with large 22″ Panasonic 4K OLED TV monitors which can fold to the side when combining suites. You will be able to save your own playlist before you board to use during the flight.
There will also be wireless charging, as well as USB-C, USB-A and 110v multi country sockets. One of my favorite features, Bluetooth pairing with the entertainment so you can use your own headset, or earphones, is also on the way. Combined with this, they will be introducing Starlink Wi-Fi, which is currently one of the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky.
There will also be a completely new Oryx entertainment system coming.

Great improvement! Mrs is totally uninterested in “sleep next to each other and suffer my snoring” but dine opposite each other is fabulous. But price point counts when I’m paying!!
Thank you for the review Michele – the seats look really interesting but I personally find the decor awful, so I don’t think I would want to be in it for a long-haul flight.
Thanks Lou. It didn’t look as bad in real life. Unfortunately they had these mirrors overhead and some very strong lights which definitely made it look worse. Seeing it up close it didn’t feel that different to the current one in terms of decor.
Literally no chance my kids would want to dine as a four lol. Good to see seats are wider
