Aer Lingus sale on non-stop transatlantic routes from Manchester

The Irish flag carrier is offering savings for customers planning a trip this spring with low fares on its services from Manchester to New York, Orlando and Barbados. You can earn BA tier points and Avios on codeshare flights and Avios on non-BA codeshare flights.

The airline is offering £100 off return travel in Economy or £200 off return travel in Business Class for booking made 28th February 2022.

Fare offers for flights from Manchester to Orlando and New York are available for travel between 15th February and 30th June 2022 with fares from Manchester to Barbados available for travel between 15th February and 30th April 2022.

Aer Lingus has also partnered with VeriFLY, a secure and easily navigable travel pass app that enables customers to keep all their COVID-19 related documents in one place and fully verified before travel.

Any bookings made to destinations in the sale will be covered by the Aer Lingus’ ‘book with confidence’ policy. The flexible booking policy is available on all bookings for travel up until 30th September 2022. Most fares also include the option to exchange for a guaranteed voucher up to 14 days before travel. In addition, those who book Advantage, Flex, Business or Business Flex fares have the option of a cash refund if they decide not to travel.

Aer Lingus has also recently introduced a Travel Tool to remove the uncertainties of travel restrictions and entry requirements for all Aer Lingus destinations.

Designed to retrieve up-to-date and real time travel information tailored to customers specific journey circumstances, including vaccination status, return travel and flight connection requirements.

Hyatt points changes

Yesterday Hyatt announced its new awards category changes. The headline news is that a number of Park Hyatts and Alila hotels move up a category so will cost more points.

Their annual award chart updates will take effect on 22 March, meaning the number of points required for a free night at some hotels is changing. No new Categories have been added, and the points required for each Category will remain the same.

The chart below includes only the hotels that are moving up (requiring more points) or moving down (requiring fewer points) starting March 22.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • When you book before March 22, your reservations will follow the current free night award chart found here.
  • Reservations made on or after March 22 will follow the new free night award chart and incorporate the updates noted below.
  • Existing reservations for nights on or after March 22 will receive a refund for the point difference if the hotel moved to a lower category

Here are some of the hotels you may be interested in that have changed:

Qantas extends London – Darwin route

Qantas will keep flying its double daily direct flights from Australia to London via Darwin following ongoing uncertainty around the reopening of the West Australian border and testing requirements for passengers transiting through Singapore. Currently Western Australia where the usual direct flight used to land in Perth, is closed indefinitely despite the rest of Australia opening up.

When international travel recommenced in November last year, but Western Australia remained closed, Qantas temporarily re-routed its Perth to London service via Darwin.

The Perth to London service was scheduled to revert to operating via Perth in April, but with the West Australian Government yet to confirm a reopening date for the state, Qantas will continue to operate the route via Darwin until at least June 2022.

To streamline transit arrangements for passengers, Qantas will also continue to operate the Sydney to London flight via Darwin instead of through Singapore until June 2022.

Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said the support of the NT Government made it possible for Qantas to relaunch the key Australian–UK route and the extension provides the Northern Territory with the added bonus of capitalising on pent-up international inbound travel demand.

“The work of the Chief Minister and his team, and the cooperation of Darwin Airport, have made running and now extending this service possible. Because of their help, flying between Australia and London has been a lot easier than it might have been otherwise,” said Mr Joyce.

Sounds good. If I was flying to Sydney then I would definitely be stopping in Darwin enroute. Its one of the few bits of Oz we haven’t seen yet… However Oz reopened too late for us this year so we took our holiday in florida instead. These flights probably won’t exist next year… But if they do we might try them.

Checking out the new No 1 lounge at @heathrow_airp Checking out the new No 1 lounge at @heathrow_airport T2. Very impressed with the elegant feel to the lounge. It’s definitely a step up from the older style of No1. I’d go as far to say that it looks better than quite a few airline lounges. All drinks are included apart from champagne and there was a good selection of tasty food as well. Full review coming soon. #airportlounge #heathrowairport #luxurytravel #no1lounge
