New Avios 50% buy bonus
The latest Finnair Buy Avios promotion has launched until 30 November 2025 with up to 50% bonus Avios. The most interesting aspect is that you will also receive 10% tier points for Finnair Plus. The bad news is that the offer is only applicable to Finnair Plus members who joined the program before 16 November 2025 and have a minimum balance of 50 Avios in their Finnair Plus account. Obviously, you could transfer some Avios from BA into your account to get the 50 Avios. The annual buy limit is reset for the offer, allowing members to purchase up to 200,000 Avios even if they have already reached the annual limit earlier in 2025.

The Avios bonus is staggered so you would have to buy a substantial amount to get the full bonus. There are usually better buy Avios promotions with British Airways if you only want to buy a small amount, so I would wait for their next promotion. You could also use the Boost Avios option, which is one of the cheapest ways to buy Avios, but obviously, you need to have earned Avios in order to boost them!
If you are only interested in the tier points, the rate is the same, no matter how many Avios you buy.
| Purchased Avios | Avios bonus rate | Tier point bonus rate |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000–9,000 | 0% | 10% |
| 10,000–54,000 | 30% | 10% |
| 55,000–99,000 | 40% | 10% |
| 100,000–200,000 | 50% | 10% |

Emirates announces new plans to refurbish A380s & B777s

Emirates has announced that its retrofit programme is about to enter its next phase, with 60 A380s and 51 Boeing 777s lined up to receive the airline’s latest cabins. Emirates currently has multiple types of business class, some of which do not have aisle access. I have always found it perplexing why people rave about their business class so much when, up until recently, so few of their business class seats had aisle access. While Emirates’ A380 seats do all have aisle access, they are definitely due for a bit of an update.
Starting from August 2026, the airline will introduce a host of new onboard products, alongside a next-generation, fully immersive in-flight entertainment system and upgraded Wi-Fi connectivity with Starlink on these aircraft as part of its extensive fleet modernisation efforts.
Emirates Engineering will introduce the latest seating designs and a new onboard lounge on 60 A380s, paired with Panasonic’s advanced Astrova inflight entertainment system.
Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline said: “Emirates’ retrofit programme is about continuously elevating standards across our entire fleet. Working with our long-standing partners, we’re taking this commitment a step further with the aim of delivering product consistency at scale, in tandem with next-generation innovations in seating, entertainment, and connectivity being brought into service with our newly delivered fleet. Our customers expect an excellent experience every time they fly Emirates, and this investment ensures we deliver on that promise in the years to come, wherever they travel with us.”
Business Class on both the A380 and Boeing 777 will receive Emirates’ latest generation seating, inspired by the leather S Lounge seats by Safran, already featured on the airline’s A350 fleet. Each seat creates a more private space with lots of extra touches from wireless charging integrated into the side cocktail table to customisable in-seat lighting. There will be 4K ice entertainment, thoughtfully designed storage, minibar amenities, and multiple charging options including USB-C and wireless ports.
Premium Economy will feature Recaro’s advanced seating technology with a mechanical recline system. Spacious leather seats will have integrated leg and footrests, adjustable headrests, and amenities including in-seat charging, a side cocktail table, and a 13.3-inch entertainment screen.
Emirates customers will enjoy 4K OLED HDR10+ displays that rival premium home cinema systems, and spatial Audio with multi-dimensional sound. You’ll also be able to use your own wireless devices via Bluetooth. Powerful 67W USB-C charging at every seat ensures all devices stay charged throughout the journey. I’m hoping that’s in addition to standard USB, as many of my devices are still using a standard USB plug.
Starlink connectivity will be installed concurrently with the cabin retrofit programme across both A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft.
To date, 76 aircraft have undergone refurbishment, with each A380 requiring approximately 22 days and each Boeing 777 taking 18 days to retrofit. The programme is delivering two freshly refurbished aircraft each month.
