Finally – earn BA Tier Points on Aer Lingus
Earlier this week, the BA website was updated to show that you will finally be able to earn BA Tier points on Aer Lingus flights from 1 April. This has been rumored for a long time, but finally, we have the hard evidence this is in place. It has always been a little odd that you did not earn TP on Aer Lingus. Despite not being part of oneworld, they are owned by IAG, BA’s parent company. So, you would have assumed that they would at least award tier points to BA Executive Club members.
The chart on ba.com shows the following tier points:
- Long haul business class (D, J, C) eg Manchester to New York, Dublin to New York – 140 TP
- Economy class long haul eg Manchester to New York
- Economy lowest (L, S, R, W) – 35
- Economy flexible (Y, M, N) – 70
- Short haul Business class (D, J, C) – 40
- Short haul economy –
- Economy lowest (L, S, R, W) – 10
- Economy flexible (Y, M, N) – 20
So if you already have flights booked with Aer Lingus, make sure you have your BA Executive Club number added.
It is worth noting that the Avios rates changed on 1 February 2024 as well for Aer Lingus. There is no bonus for Executive Club status tiers.
50% Bonus when you buy Avios
If you collect Avios through the Qatar Privilege Club or don’t want to wait for the next BA Avios sale, Qatar has just launched a new sale for buying Avios. The sale is only on until Sunday 7 April.
It looks as though some people are being targeted with a better offer, but the standard offer is staggered:
- Buy 3,000-15,000 Avios, get a 20% bonus
- Buy 16,000-30,000 Avios, get a 30% bonus
- Buy 31,000-250,000 Avios, get a 50% bonus
I view 50% as the standard buy Avios bonus, which is regularly available via BA and Aer Lingus. I would not buy Avios at a rate below a 50% bonus. However, if you have earned any Avios in the last 30 days or are about to, you would be better off “boosting” them than buying Avios. You can read more here.

Hilton Honors Buy bonus
As high hotel prices persist, it is still worth considering buying points rather than paying cash in many situations. Hilton is making another targeted offer, which the email indicates varies between members. Always make sure you understand how many points you need for your specific dates and that there is availability. Do not buy the points until you are able to use them immediately.
I have been offered a 100% bonus when I buy 6,000 points or more. During the promotion period, you can purchase a maximum of 240,000 points per calendar year. If you purchased the maximum 240,000 points, it would cost you ยฃ1980.48 for 480,000 points.

As you say, Michele, at long last for TPs on EI. You will remember that we were told long ago that EI would join OneWorld. Sent from Dublin Airport, using QR to get to CCU is ยฃ800 cheaper (after paying to get to DUB) than from LHR.
The price difference flying from Dublin on many routes is crazy. Considering Ireland is generally expensive it shows how much we are being ripped off!
Iโve been battling BA for tier points for a month.
You can only imagine how hard itโs been. Never able to speak to anybody in holidays. And and and. Thatโs only a fractions of the issues.
Yesterday I came to the conclusion that BA are run by fools.
Iโve sent my complaint to the ceo office now.
Yep, I think thatโs me done with BA after nearly 50k spent with them as a family in 18 months.
Not fools. Uncaring jobsworthies โ in a company that exploits not encourges loyalty.
