NEWS & OFFERS: Hilton Debit Card Changes Including Fast Track Gold, Virgin Trains Points Bonuses & Dublin Lounge Updates

Hilton Honors Debit Card Now Has Fast Track to Gold + 50% Off.

A few changes have been made to the Hilton Honors debit cards, and there’s a temporary sign-up bonus running until 28th May 2026.

These cards are a great way to earn Hilton status faster if you don’t hold an Amex Platinum card. The cards also let you earn Hilton points on your spend. There are two options available, both issued by Currensea and linked to your existing current account.

Hilton Honors Debit

Cost: £30 per year, reduced from £60 until 28th May

Hilton Honors debit card

Welcome Bonus until 28th May: 5,000 Hilton Points when you spend £1,000 in foreign currency within 12 months.

Renewal Bonus: 5,000 Points when you spend £5,000 or more and renew your card membership.

As always, you’ll earn up to 3 Hilton points per £1 spent (1 per £1 in GBP), and you’ll receive instant Silver status, which gives you access to the 5th night free on reward stays benefit.

You can now fast-track to Gold by earning 5 elite nights per £5,000 spend on the card, up to 15 nights per year. With Hilton Gold needing 25 nights, your spend can effectively get you 60% of the way there. You can enjoy space-available room upgrades, 80% bonus points, and free breakfast outside the US (or a food and beverage credit at most US brands).

One downside to note is that the FX fee has been increased to 0.99%. This is now the same as the new United debit card and much less ideal for spending abroad.

Hilton Honors Plus

Cost: £150 per year

Hilton Honors Plus debit

Welcome Bonus until 28th May: 30,000 Points when you spend £2,500 in foreign currency within 6 months.

Renewal Bonus: 10,000 Bonus Points when you spend £10,000 or more and renew your card.

You’ll get instant Gold status and earn up to 4.5 points per £1 spent (1.5 per £1 in GBP). Unfortunately, the FX fee is now 0.5%.

Worth It?

If you stay with Hilton a few times a year, value breakfast and upgrades, and do not have an AMEX Platinum card, these cards are a great low-cost option. Silver on its own is fairly limited. However, if you are likely to spend £10,000 per year, the Plus card makes more sense. But if you stay occasionally and want a way to earn Hilton points from your spend, Silver is still a good option.

If you joined before 24th March 2026, your existing FX fee remains in place until 23rd May 2026

Double Virgin Points + Railcard Bonus with Virgin Trains Ticketing

Double Points on Train Tickets

Until 19th April, you can earn 6 Points per £1 spent via Virgin Trains Ticketing, up from the usual 3.

If you have any trips coming up over the next few months, it is worth booking now to take advantage of the higher rate.

2,000 Bonus Points on Railcards

types of railcards bought via Virgin Trains ticketing

You can also earn 2,000 bonus points when purchasing a Railcard by 19th April.

For example, on a £35 Railcard, you would also earn 105 Virgin Points from the transaction, taking the total to 2,105 points.

If used on flights, you can get a much better value from your Virgin points. Saver Award one way fares, excluding taxes, start at 29,000 points for Upper, 10,500 for Premium, and 6,000 for Economy.

The offer is limited to 3,000 purchases, so it’s better to purchase sooner rather than later.

Mark Plowright, spokesperson for Virgin Trains Ticketing, said:

“Whether you’re planning an Easter escape, a visit to see friends or family, or simply making the most of everyday journeys, Virgin Trains Ticketing makes travel more rewarding. With Railcards offering great savings and the added boost of Virgin Points, customers can get even more value from every trip.”

Dublin Airport Lounge Updates

Dublin airport lounges

Dublin Airport has announced the return of its popular 51st & Green lounge alongside a new flagship lounge in Terminal 1. These updates are part of a multi-million euro investment and follow the rebranding of the Martello and Liffey lounges.

51st & Green – 31st March

Located after US Preclearance in Terminal 2, you can use the lounge when flying to North America in Business with Aer Lingus, American, Delta or United. You can also enter with eligible airline status or purchase entry.

The lounge has excellent runway views and lots of natural light and a range of seating zones, but before the refurb, it was very crowded, with subpar food and in much need of a refresh. Hopefully, this lounge will now be one of Dublin’s best!

Phoenix Lounge – 16th April

The Phoenix Lounge Dublin airport

The Phoenix Lounge is Dublin Airport’s new main lounge in Terminal 1, located on floor 2, just after security. There will be over 300 seats and triple the number of food options compared to the old lounge.

The lounge will be used by a variety of airlines, including Air Canada, Air France, Finnair, KLM, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, and more. We don’t yet know if you’ll be able to access with a lounge pass.

Entry pricing starts at €29 when booked online or €40 at reception, and it includes 2 alcoholic drinks per person.

Ronan Fitzsimons, Commercial Director at Dublin Airport, said:

“Demand for airport lounges at Dublin Airport has never been stronger, so we’ve invested heavily to create more space, more choice and a much better experience for passengers. From expanded seating to improved food and drink options – including a pint of Guinness on tap – we’re confident these upgraded lounges will give travellers the perfect place to relax before their flight.”

There’s so much on the doorstep from the Westfield shopping centre to the @londonaquaticcentre where Tom Daley trains. There’s a huge restaurant scene here with every sort of cuisine you can think of. I loved all the outdoor terraces to. Those flying in First class or holding Gold Guest List or Premier status can access the exclusive lounge. The machine precision weighs each ingredient in a special “Turbine” martini recipe from top class mixologist @mrlyan Although the recipe calls for Aviation Gin you can substitute it for another gin or vodka. The cleverly designed mixer then mixes it to precision. Inside it looks just like a jet engine. You can finish with a twist of lemon or olives.
