Up to 12,000 AMEX Points for Adding Your First Supplementary Card
AMEX has just launched a tempting promotion. If you add a new cardholder to your account by 31st October 2025, an increased bonus is available for several AMEX cards, but the best bonuses apply to the AMEX Platinum and AMEX Preferred Rewards Gold card:
- AMEX Platinum: 12,000 Membership Rewards (MR) points (normally 5,000)
- Preferred Rewards Gold Card: 9,000 MR points (normally 3,000). This is much better than the previous 6,000 bonus, which ran in May.
- Cashback Cardmembers: £30 or £25 cashback (up from £5)
- Marriott Bonvoy AMEX: 6,000 (up from 3,000)
- Nectar AMEX: 6,000 (up from 3,000)
The bonus is only available on the first approved Supplementary Card added during the offer period, provided you’ve never previously added a supplementary cardholder to your account.
It may take up to 90 days for the points to be applied to your account. The odd thing is that bonus points appear in instalments of 3,000 and 6,000 for the AMEX Preferred Rewards Gold and 5,000 and 7,000 for the AMEX Platinum.
Why Add a Supplementary?
Supplementary Cards allow a partner, family member, or trusted friend to spend on your account while letting you earn the rewards. As well as getting a bonus for adding your first supplementary cardholder, it makes it easier to meet the minimum spend to get the sign-up bonus.
Additional benefits are also extended to the Supplementary Cardholder, including:
- Amex Offers
- Amex Experiences
- Purchase protection
- AMEX Platinum: Worldwide travel insurance, car rental benefits, access to the Fine Hotels & Resorts programme, unlimited lounge access via Priority Pass, and hotel status with four major hotel chains, among other benefits.
- AMEX Gold: Travel and accident insurance
This is an excellent offer because there is no spend target you need to meet to earn the bonus points. If you’ve been meaning to add a partner or family member to your Amex account, now is the moment.
Remember that if you are the primary cardholder, you will remain liable for all charges on your card.
Combine with Other Offers – Up to 92,000 Points!
AMEX is also running an increased sign-up bonus for the Gold and Platinum cards. You can receive both bonuses!
Gold: 40,000 MR Points + 9,000 for supplementary cardholder – up to 49,000 points
Platinum: 80,000 + 12,000 sup cardholder – add both bonuses for 92,000 points, which can be converted 1:1 into Virgin Points, Avios and more!

Marhaba Meet-and-Greet Debuts at Manchester Airport
Manchester Airport has become the first airport in the UK to offer Marhaba’s premium meet-and-greet service. As one of the busiest airports in the UK, this service is a much-needed addition to the premium offering.
Marhaba
If you visit Dubai Airport regularly (or one of the eight countries Marhaba operates in), you may already be familiar with the brand. This airport hospitality company offers “kerb-to-gate assistance with a dose of Arabian hospitality”. It’s part of DNATA, which belongs to the wider Emirates group.
Marhaba offers the option to book access to a global lounge network of over 400 locations, including Marhaba’s own lounges and its partner network (which includes Plaza Premium), as well as chauffeur services. In Dubai, they even offer airport services such as Check-In Anywhere and Land & Leave.
The Manchester Airport Service
The service is priced depending on whether you are arriving, departing or transferring and includes:
Service Type | Price (per adult) | Family of 4 | What’s Included |
---|---|---|---|
Arrivals | £83.54 | £186.92 |
|
Departures | £75.93 | £171.89 |
|
Transfers | £83.54 | £186.92 |
|
There is also an optional baggage handling/porter service. The service launched on Monday and is available to book now.
A Great Addition to Manchester Airport
Marhaba is just one of the new premium offerings now available at Manchester Airport, including the Aether private terminal (read our Aether review here), and a large-scale expansion, including a new retail space and security hall in Terminal 2 and revamp plans for Terminal 3.
The service takes out all the stress points you would encounter at the airport and has additional benefits you don’t get with airline status alone. It’s especially beneficial if you’re travelling as a family.

A Little-Known MeliaRewards Gold Benefit
It’s come to our attention after writing our MeliáRewards guide that there is one benefit of MeliáRewards Gold that many people are unaware of.
As a Gold member, you will receive three discount vouchers, each offering 20% off stays, redeemable within one calendar year.
You can earn MeliáRewards Gold status by :
- Completing 15 stays, 30 nights, or 60,000 points at participating Meliá properties
- Holding 1,000 Melia shares
- Having an American Express Platinum or American Express Centurion card.
If you don’t regularly stay at Meliá properties, especially if you have instant status via your AMEX card, it’s worth knowing about this to benefit from 20% off! It can really improve the value of your card.
You can find your discount vouchers via ‘My Account’ and’ Promotions/My Benefits’.‘You then need to copy the code into the promo code section when you book. If you can’t see the vouchers, it’s worth contacting support!
It’s worth noting that when your status upgrades, this does not give you more discount vouchers. These renew when your account renews. Although most Meliá benefits are based on availability, the discount vouchers are definitive and can save a tidy sum if you’re booking a high-end hotel. The discount can really add up, especially if you’re booking a high-value stay.

I get excellent value from these 20% discount vouchers every year – probably north of £1000. The other benefit you haven’t mentioned is free breakfast for your partner. ei. 2-4-1. It is just about never worth booking a breakfast inclusive rate when you can get it free for one of you. However you can get a free breakfast at ‘The Level’ in some hotels – it’s just that not all Melia hotels have The Level (such as Newcastle which I have used a lot).
Hi James, certainly a great benefit! It’s mentioned in our Melia Guide I believe.
Just a minor typo but in the Marhaba article, it should read DNATA rather than DNTA.
Thank you!
Hope Manchester Marhaba works better than Dubai. I booked a transfer a couple of years ago to spend some expiring points.
No one turned up !
Oh wow! That is no good!
