Finnair Plus 50% Avios Sale – Buy Avios from Just 0.81p and Earn Oneworld Status

Finnair has just launched a new ‘Buy Avios’ discount, and it’s extremely lucrative. Until 16th November, you can get a 50% discount (the same as a 100% bonus) when you buy 85,000 Avios or more.
The discounts are:
- 30% off – 5,000 to 19,000 Avios
- 35% off – 20,000 to 49,000 Avios
- 40% off – 50,000 to 84,000 Avios
- 50% off – 85,000 to 200,000 Avios
There also seems to be an extra loophole where the price drops even further when you buy 100,000 Avios or more. Depending on your payment currency, you could be paying just 0.81p per Avios, and USD is currently the cheapest option. Buying 85,000 Avios costs $969 (£720), which works out to 0.85p per Avios. However, if you buy 100,000 Avios for $1,085 (£806), the price drops to just 0.81p each. Japanese yen was originally cheaper at 0.79p per Avios but Finnair has since increased the price, so make sure you double check the currencies to make sure you’re still getting the best value option.
That’s an incredible saving. For example, if you purchased 100,000 Avios with this offer, you’d save £973. That’s 55% cheaper than buying Avios via British Airways. If possible, use a card with no foreign transaction fees to get the best value.
If you’re already near your Finnair Plus Avios purchase limit this year, the good news is that Finnair has reset the limit for this promotion, so you can buy up to 200,000 Avios even if you’ve already reached your usual allowance.
There are three more criteria you must meet to take part:
- You must have opened a Finnair Plus account before 30th October. This is why it’s always good to have a range of airline loyalty programme accounts, just in case you want to move Avios or a deal like this comes along.
- You must have at least 50 Avios in your Finnair Plus account. If you don’t, you can easily link your account to your BA account and transfer Avios over. However, your Finnair Plus account needs to be at least 30 days old before you can link it to another Avios programme.
- Your personal details must match across accounts.
Avios should arrive within 1-3 days. Once Avios are credited to your Finnair Plus account, you can move them to your British Airways Club account and more. Read our guide to spending Finnair Avios for inspiration.
Finnair Plus Tier Points and Extra Status Benefits

As well as being the best Avios offer we’ve seen for years, there are also some extra benefits.
Finnair is awarding tier points equivalent to 10% of the Avios purchased, which count towards Finnair Plus status.
For example, buying 150,000 Avios would give you 15,000 tier points, enough for Finnair Plus Silver and oneworld Ruby status (equivalent to British Airways Bronze), with benefits such as priority check-in when flying with oneworld airlines. 150,000 Avios would cost you £1,209 at best if you purchase in USD. That’s much better than the £3,500 you’d need to spend to earn British Airways Bronze.
You will also earn milestone rewards as you earn Tier Points. If you’re a Finnair Plus Basic member, buying 120,000 Avios would give you 12,000 tier points, enough to earn a milestone reward of 3,000 bonus Avios. Go for the maximum 200,000 Avios, and you’ll earn 20,000 tier points, enough to unlock the Silver milestone reward of two Finnair lounge passes.
Marriott Bonvoy AMEX 60,000 Points Sign-Up Bonus

AMEX has tripled the Marriott Bonvoy sign-up bonus until 12th January 2027. You’ll receive 60,000 Marriott points when you spend £3,000 within the first three months, up from the usual 20,000.
You’ll only qualify for the bonus if you haven’t had a personal AMEX card in the last 24 months, so if you hold an AMEX Business card, you can still apply. You’ll also remain eligible for future sign-up bonuses on the BA Premium Plus AMEX and Platinum card as long as you’re eligible.
You’ll also need to have a minimum annual personal income of £20,000. Supplementary cardholders can apply for their own card as long as they meet the other eligibility requirements.
The card comes with a £95 annual fee, and top benefits include:
- 2 Marriott points per £1 spent or 6 points per £1 spent at participating Marriott hotels
- One free night after you spend £25,000 in an anniversary year, with a certificate worth up to 25,000 points
- 15 Elite Night Credits per year and automatic Gold Elite status when you spend £15,000 on your card each year.
The Elite Night Credits mean automatic Silver status, with just 10 more nights needed for Gold or 35 for Platinum. There’s no rule against also holding the Marriott Debit card by Currensea either. Holding the Premium debit card and meeting the spending requirements will leave you with 35 Elite Nights, leaving you just 15 nights short of Platinum before your first stay.
If you’re eligible and can meet the £3,000 spend in the next three months, this card is definitely worth considering.
Triple Virgin Points with Virgin Trains Ticketing

Until 30th November, you can earn 9 Points per £1 spent via Virgin Trains Ticketing, up from the usual 3.
If you have any trips coming up over the next few months, it’s worth booking now to take advantage of the extra points. For example, a return from Manchester Piccadilly to Paddington for £85, you would earn 765 Virgin Points, up from the usual 255. If you regularly travel by train, points can add up quickly, especially if you earn Virgin Points in other ways. Virgin Red has also temporarily increased the earning rate to 10 Points per £1 spent on Booking.com.
Once in your Virgin Red account, you can spend Virgin Points on a range of things, including flights and upgrades via Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. A one-way Upper Class redemption from London to New York starts at just 29,000 Virgin Points, or 10,500 Points for Premium (plus taxes and charges). You can also spend Virgin Points via Virgin Red on Virgin Voyages, Virgin Hotels, Virgin Experiences and more.
