NEWS & OFFERS: Radisson 35% off January Sale, British Airways Flies First New World Traveller Plus & BA Adds Gatwick to Chania

  • 22/12/2025
  • Eugene

In this post:

  • Radisson launches January sale with up to 35% off
    • Here are the details:
  • British Airways’ first retrofitted 787-9 with new World Traveller Plus Takes Flight
  • British Airways Adds New Gatwick Route to Chania

Radisson launches January sale with up to 35% off

Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc

Launching on 23 January, Radisson Hotels has unveiled its January Deals sale, offering up to 35% off stays for members of Radisson Rewards, alongside a sizeable bonus points incentive. Radisson Rewards is free to join, and members receive the highest available discount.

The promotion is aimed squarely at early planners, with discounted bed & breakfast rates valid for stays throughout 2026, making this a useful option for anyone looking to lock in travel well in advance.

Here are the details:

  • Book by: 15 January 2026

  • Stay dates: 2 February 2026 – 31 December 2026

  • Discount: Up to 35% off (maximum discount for members)

  • Bonus points: 3,000 Radisson Rewards points per stay

  • Regions included: Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific

  • Promo code: JANSL26

Around 500 hotels are taking part across the eligible regions, ranging from city-centre properties to resort-style hotels.

The main drawback is that the discounted rate is usually a prepaid rate, meaning payment is required in full at the time of booking. As with most Radisson sales, reservations are non-refundable and cannot be changed once confirmed. The name on the booking must match the credit cardholder, and that same individual must check in for the stay.

If your plans are firm and you’re happy to commit early, this sale can offer solid value, particularly once breakfast and the 3,000 bonus points per stay are factored in.

You can find the sale page here.

British Airways’ first retrofitted 787-9 with new World Traveller Plus Takes Flight

British Airways World Traveller Plus

British Airways has begun flying its first retrofitted Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with the aircraft’s first passenger services taking place on 21 December.

The aircraft initially operated London to Tokyo Haneda, followed by Haneda back to London, and at the time of writing is departing London for Kuala Lumpur. That short rotation gives a good early idea of where passengers might start spotting the refurbished Dreamliner in service.

This particular 787-9 is an important milestone for BA. It’s the first 787-9 in the fleet to be retrofitted with Club Suites, rather than having them installed from new, and it also introduces the new World Traveller Plus (premium economy) cabin on the type.

Amusingly, the new World Traveller Plus seat was originally revealed on LinkedIn, rather than via a traditional press release. That unusual launch did not go unnoticed and was not especially warmly received, with the initial reaction from frequent flyers being fairly muted.

British Airways World Traveller Plus

We will be waiting for real-life reviews of the new seat to see how it performs on an actual long-haul flight. Based on the first images released, the cabin looks quite bland and does not appear to be a big step forward over the existing World Traveller Plus product, at least from a design perspective.

Using Tokyo Haneda for the debut makes sense. It’s one of BA’s key long-haul routes, and a sector where upgraded cabins are likely to be noticed quickly.

The 787-9 is already popular thanks to its quieter cabin, larger windows and improved air quality. Adding Club Suites up front and the new World Traveller Plus in the middle does still lift the overall onboard experience.

The challenge for British Airways now is momentum. To make a real difference, it will need to keep more 787-9s moving through the retrofit programme into 2026, rather than letting this become a slow, drawn-out rollout.

British Airways Adds New Gatwick Route to Chania

View of the old port of Chania on Crete, Greece

British Airways has added another leisure route for the summer, with BA Euroflyer launching flights from London Gatwick to Chania on the Greek island of Crete.

The new service will run twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, starting from 24 May. It’s an extra option rather than a replacement, as BA’s existing Heathrow to Chania flights will continue to operate.

Flight times look pretty decent. Departures from Gatwick are early morning, between 7am and 8am, getting you into Chania around early afternoon. The return leg heads back roughly an hour later, landing into Gatwick in the late afternoon, which works well if you want to make the most of your time on the island.

If you’re booking with points, this route is worth a look. Avios availability is very good so far, with the usual guaranteed reward seats in both Euro Traveller and Club Europe still available on most flights. That’s fairly typical for a brand-new route, but still good news if you’re planning a summer getaway.

Book your flights here.

We flew BA5 in October from LHR to Haneda (Im guessing its that flight that has been done). It was a points and Barclays upgrade voucher booking. We wanted BA7 (CS flight) but had gone by the time the agent booked (355 days out/1am). Great service throughout and great view of Fuji. We had 7A and 7B (IYKYK). Would have loved to have had Club Suite so am glad they are starting with this route.

Premium economy looks dull and uninspiring, for a country full of great designers and people aspiring to good design, it’s another missed opportunity. Who makes these decisions? Not cohesive, or cool, doesn’t look luxurious like competitors. It looks like let’s copy someone else’s seat and pick the most dreary colours possible with no colour scheme. Maybe looks better in person. Screens look small too

Is the new WTP 2-3-2 as shown in the pic above?
