NEWS & OFFERS: BA to change Heathrow minimum connection time, Flash £35 Eurostar and Citizen M sale

British Airways to change minimum connection time at Heathrow

At Heathrow Terminal 5, British Airways is modifying the minimum connection time (MCT) for a number of flights.

At the moment, BA advises a minimum connection time of 60 minutes for connections made at the same Heathrow terminal and 90 minutes for connections including transfers between Heathrow terminals.

To provide customers extra time when connecting, BA will increase the MCT between some flights at T5 from 60 minutes to 75 minutes beginning in January 2024.

The change will apply to customers transferring from a long-haul flight to another long-haul, short-haul, or domestic flight as well as those travelling from a domestic flight to a short-haul or long-haul flight.

When you go to book those flights from now on, you should only be able to book the correct connection time. I would assume that should BA decide existing bookings do not have enough time, they will notify customers, but I would assume they will let existing stand as they are. If you are on a single ticket with connecting flights, BA is responsible for rebooking you for free if you miss your flight due to the late arrival of your inbound aircraft.

I do wonder if this is an acknowledgement that things at Heathrow are not working as well as they should, with transfer security being particularly poor at the moment with Fast Track still closed for much of the time.

Flash £35 Eurostar offer

Standard Eurostar seat

Eurostar can be extremely expensive if you leave it until the last minute to book, so it’s worth snapping up a bargain with one of the new offers if you are planning to travel in the future.

The fares are available on weekday trains from Monday 10th July until Thursday 7th September but the sale fares are only available until Thursday 22 June.

The £35 per person one-way fare (mandatory return) is in Standard Class only, on journeys from London St. Pancras International to Paris Gare du Nord, Brussels-Midi or Lille Europe.

An additional fee of £30/40€ applies per journey/per person for exchanges made within 7 days of the original departure date. Tickets are non-refundable at any time. Blackout dates apply.

Citizen M sale

citizenM London Bankside

Citizen M has launched their summer sale with up to 25% off when staying two nights or more. The sale is on until 2 July, and you can stay until 31 August. It’s worth joining the mycitizenM+ club as members will get breakfast included. This only costs £9 so the free breakfast on one stay would be worth it. Plus, you get extra perks for a year, including free breakfast on stays, free late check-out & premium view and 10% off food and drink.

You can find the sale page here.
