Whilst I don’t generally talk about economy promotions, this is such a good offer I thought it could be worth mentioning. The good news is that this offer applies to either one way or return bookings. You could, therefore, book something like a short US flight such as New York in economy one way and then return on a night flight in Club World at full Avios price and get the saving on the World Traveller portion of the journey.

50% off Avios long-haul redemptions on BA
British Airways this morning launched a promotion which halves the number of Avios needed to book economy reward flights to over 90 long-haul destinations. They have also reduced the Avios needed to reduce the cost of World Traveller flights through part payment by half.
For a limited time, the number of Avios required to book reward flights in economy to or from Heathrow or Gatwick has been cut by 50%. The offer applies to both peak and off-peak Avios prices.
Return flights start from:
- Bermuda for 13,000 Avios,
- Seychelles for 16,250
- Hong Kong for 19,500,
- New York for 13,000
plus the usual taxes, fees and carrier charges.
To get the offer you must book before 17 June 2018, and travel between 1 September, 2018, and 31 May 2019 in the World Traveller economy cabin. The offer is not available for flights to/from Sydney, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, San Jose (Costa Rica), Grenada, Cancun, Lima and Male.

Etihad Guest changes
Etihad rather sneakily confirmed changes to its Etihad Guest program in an email entitled “Be quick – book GuestSeats early to get the best rates”. From 30 June 2018, there will be changes to the number of miles needed for Economy Class and Business Class for booking GuestSeats using Etihad Guest Miles, based on when you book and fly. There may be price changes closer to the departure date or during peak periods.
This sounds very like what BA have been proposing with dynamic pricing. The changes will only happen for new bookings made from 30 June 2018. OpenSeats and Upgrades are not affected, fortunately.
The mileage calculator will only show the minimum miles needed for the route. In order to get an exact price, you will need to enter your dates of travel. This will also affect any changes made. For bookings on or after 30 June in case of a date change, the ticket will be re-issued, the difference in fare (if applicable) will be collected in miles, along with the date change fee. The moral is don’t change unless you absolutely have to as it could prove expensive!
