Singapore Airlines offers from Stockholm – NZ and Australia from £2083

If you fancy trying Singapore Airlines then the place to do it for the cheapest fares is Stockholm. Singapore have a service on their A350 which routes via Moscow to Singapore which has consistently been giving good value fares to Australia and Zealand. You can read my review of the flight from Stockholm in this review.

Prices start from:

  • Syndey £2125
  • Melbourne £2131
  • Perth £2108
  • Cairns £2108
  • Brisbane £2125
  • Adelaide £2108
  • Auckland £2083
  • Christchurch £2100

The deal to Singapore is also worth looking at which starts from £1585

The rules:

  • Travel period – Outbound travel period Wed 02 May 2018 to Sun 31 Mar 2019 with Travel completion date Tue 31 Mar 2020
  • Changes USD 250 (subject to availability)

You can find the special offer page here.

British Airways is investing in better cleaning on short haul too

BA Club Europe improvements domestic
Current Pinnacle seats in Club Europe

I have written a couple of time about the deep cleaning that BA’s long-haul fleet have been undergoing and more recently the short-haul fleet. BA have now introduced a longer and hopefully more thorough cleaning on turnarounds in order to improve the cleanliness of their short-haul aircraft for every flight. It will be interesting to see what difference this makes as I was unimpressed with the cleanliness of my recent flight back from Rome in September.

Have you noticed any difference to the cleanliness on recent short haul BA flights? Let me know in the comments below or on social media.

Intercontinental sale

InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam

IHG have a sale on which has just been extended to include their premium hotel brand, Intercontinental. The autumn-winter offer is available for booking until 28th February 2019 for stays up to and including 30th April 2019 at selected participating InterContinental Hotels and Resorts throughout Europe. The offer requires advance booking between 3-21 days depending on the hotel.

This offer will get you a discount of up to 15% off the Best Flexible rate.  If you are an IHG® Rewards Club members you will receive additional savings – it is free to join here.

As usual, the downside is that full payment is required at time of booking and is non-refundable. You can read my review of the InterContinental London Park Lane here and Dublin here. I will shortly also be reviewing the InterContinental London O2 and the New York Barclay.

You can find the sale page here.

Buy cheap Avios on GrouponAvios bonus

Every now and again Iberia offer a cheap buy Avios option through Groupon Spain and another one has appeared. Those of you that have had dealings with Iberia before will know that their IT is pretty bad and thing often go awry. That is the catch with this offer. There are numerous reports of people having hassle with the previous offers but the purchase rates are a good discount from the usual prices and if you want to top up your Iberia or BA balance you may be interested.

Here are a few extra things to get extra value. You can go to the Iberia website, change your country to Spain with English as the language and visit the IberiaPluStore. This is exactly like the BA estore.  Groupon offer 13 Avios per €1 spent until 31 December 2018 so you can get a few more on top of your purchase.

If this is your first time using Groupon Spain, you might be able to obtain a discount by using the discount code: VIVEGRPN

There are sometimes issues with credit cards being accepted but paying by Paypal should solve this. The Groupon page is in Spanish but google translate works well with the page.

There are number of different packages to choose from which present different value for money. Once you have bought your package you then have to exchange it for Avios by 10 November 2018 which is usually the tricky part. You do this by inputting the voucher code into a special portal which should then mean you get your Avios 10 days later.  You can see people’s success rate from the reviews.

Here are the packages:

  • 2,000 Avios Iberia Plus for € 19 instead of € 54
  • 4.000 Avios Iberia Plus for € 54 instead of € 91
  • 8,000 Iberia Plus Avios for € 99 instead of € 164
  • 15,000 Iberia Plus Avios for € 189 instead of € 293
  • 20,000 Avios Iberia Plus for € 249 instead of € 385
  • 35,000 Avios Iberia Plus for € 439 instead of € 661

You can buy more than one of most packages as follows:

  • Limit of 1 coupon per Iberia card for the option of 2,000
  • Limit of 5 coupons per Iberia card for the option of 4,000, 20,000
  • Limit of 10 coupons per Iberia card for the rest of options: 8,000 and 15,000 Avios.

BA cleaning still atrocious on short and long haul. Club World often has filthy carpets and trash down sides of seats.
Short haul needs trays cleaned after every flight. Sticky and often with yogurt sprayed onto sestbacjs!
Turn around times insufficient for anything meaningful other than picking up obvious trash.

Is this from recent experience? Fingers crossed it gets better across the fleet and in all cabins!

Agreed, recent experience on a supposedly deep cleaned a/c which was filthy.
Short haul a couple of weeks ago my tray table had what looked like chilli oil running down it ?

Slightly OT as relates to recent LH flight in CW. Dirty carpet with clearly visible build up of ingrained dust and bits of food matter around seat area, plus what looked like coffee stains on divider between seats. Not pleasant

Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE is only around 50 minutes from Dubai airport and a much calmer experience than the centre of Dubai. Great beaches and stunning mountains make this the nature Emirate. I was taken by surprise by @queenelizabetholympicp I was taken by surprise by @queenelizabetholympicpark and Stratford. I went to review the @hyattlondonstratford Regency hotel but was surprised at how easy it was to get there and get around London so easily. There’s so much on the doorstep from the Westfield shopping centre to the @londonaquaticcentre where Tom Daley trains. There’s a huge restaurant scene here with every sort of cuisine you can think of. I loved all the outdoor terraces to. I ate at Alpine restaurant @haugenldn and was impressed with the range of dishes from wild mushroom rosti to fondue. There’s also a great roof terrace.
